That's awesome! Didn't even know there was such a thing as a colossus squid. With two beaks too. That's pretty interesting stuff! Man, eyes as big as dinner plates! Geez.

I saw a news segment about it. It had rotating barbs on its tenticles. They are found in the deep waters of Alaska and is rarely seen at the surface.

obviously, these guys have dont TONS and TONS of research on the danger of the specimen, even though i doubt a person could fall in the water roughly 1000 meters

Squid, not the AO member, is good to eat. Especially when they use their tenticles to try to get out of your mouth! :D

Okay, hypothetically speaking, if one of those actually were at the surface and you fell next to it.... what actually WOULD happen?

I know very little about squid....

I'm not sure about this but I think I heard that if they are found near the surface, they are either dying or dead.

Darn....

I was hoping for some new movie about a man-eating squid... closest I've seen was Sphere... oh well:(

But say if it actually was alive... would it eat you, sting you, envelop you, ....?

Well I imagin if you were to get close enough to one it would envelop you with the tentacles and those rotating barb deals would make some nice holes in you. Rendering you aneebriated; then it might tear you into a few chunks, slowly chewing you gone with the two beaks that it has.
