For me and some people the tank is bothersome in every postion! I just cant stand having the tank touch me, it kinda makes me feel a little restricted. Like I cant get as close to my gun(or play tight) as i could other ways.

This would be a future project but i plan on making a drop foreword or asa that will always have the tank out of the way. What would be a good design for a tank that still faces towards me but is also out of the way? Any ideas are welcome(even bad ones).................

Im sacnning a picture i drew in 20 seconds flat, Its probably already been done, but Its an idea if it hasn't. The only thing is it would look odd, and if NOT shaped this way the tank would hit into the dropforward when fully extened(for maximum length), and it look kinda... well see for yourself:

what did you just flip the tank around so the end points towards the barrel?

whoa major coincidence. I was just thinking about a new design for a drop forward. I was thinking style it like a DZ III but instead of having bends in the metal have lockable swivels.

They have drops that swing to the left/right. I don't recall the name, but I know that it's not too great looking. Its like a metal rod (like the Kapp DZ stubby) then on the end is a swing that moves from left to right and can attatch to an asa at the bottom.

The VL drops are the ones that can swivel to diffrent positions.

how about putting the asa on backwards?

I like the asa on backwards idea and frankly on a mag I think it would be nice to make it more evenly weighted (it would counter the valve) but my only drop is 7" and that would be redicoulous so I havent been able to try it. you would want like a 2 inch drop probably. Also look at getting one of them 7 inch drops and a lil 45/30 or 45/45 tank.

I'm actually thinking of completly doing away with my drop.
I dont like Drop forwards anymore.

I can't stand the tank even touching me.

Maybe you should go on the Maury show and have people chase you around with nitro tanks and then you wont be scared of them anymore;)

Lol, its not like that. I feel like i can't play as tight or as good with a tank in my way!

I despise drops. I like having the tank coming off my frame, i wouldn't buy a drop unless i bought an 88 or 114, i run my 68 and 45/45 straight up.

Ahahahaha drops suck... I have a 30 dollar on/off asa that mounts directly to the grip :D

with a 45/45 tank my face is about an inch from my beavertail... which is PLENTY close for me.

I play tight enough... I don't have my gun so close to my face that my hand is crooked in a weird position... I play tight with my hand in a comfortbale position

remember that lady with the cats or the ballons or what ever...those are funny.

i think you should turn your asa around and see how that feels, and try different combinations of drops and positions, try a remote also.
