Oh man, that is impressive. I wish I had the ability to figure it out. The one video, the second one killed my internet though. It took for ever. How does the EPIC perform with paint?

Is Jack&Coke the only one who can do the sound test?

I would defintiely like to see paint being shot from this Epic!! That was pretty amazing!!

When did they release the electro Epic?

p8ntball72

this is a proto type that insight sent me for testing.
we are working on many things with this gun.
looks and speed seem to have priority over performance so insight is going that direction.

"boltless is better"
and getting even better everyday.

I always thought $750 was waaaay too much for a non electro, so I can only imagine what this would be.

epic prices have gone down..

WARPED1

$550 is not much better really, I'd buy it if it were $350ish.
The thing on the grip is fugly IMO, but I have always been intrigued by them.

p8ntball72
04-14-2003, 11:13 PM
so how much is a fair price for and electro of this speed that has NO BOLT.
all input will go into the report to insight..

thanks

For an electro version I'd pay $750ish, I was referring to the original mechanical one:)!
Personally, I don't like the square battery pack(don't like it on my EMag either), or the blocky thing that the tank screws into on the grip, but that's just one mans opinion:D .

p8ntball72
04-14-2003, 11:37 PM
respect..
the electro body is still in the design phase.
we are currently doing speed tests..
BTW i was thinking 750 to 800 for the gun also..

I'll most likely have sound test results up in a few minutes. Still downloading the ciip, then i gotta rip the audio and find my sound proggy again. Not promising anything... :)

WARPED1

If they change the battery design and that grip thing, I'd seriously consider it! I'll keep my eyes open!

I found at least 13cps for a second at a time. I'll do a better job tomorrow and post a screen shot, it's bedtime now.

04-15-2003, 12:00 AM
Thanks mossman..
now that a few people have seen the videos,of the two what one do you think is faster ?
i think the second one.
tomarrow will be paint test day and i am also going to try to add a roller to the trigger.

testing is so much fun..:D

manike
04-15-2003, 04:30 AM
I think the mpeg video is faster.

With a roller trigger you should be able to keep the ROF up more consistently.

Interesting wrist angle and 'flick' movement at the end of the .mpg video :) made me laugh. Are you a conductor in real life?....

arent epics capped at 9bps?

Also, you can't cap a mechanical gun(I know this ones electro, but its not available to us., just lucky testers!)

That gun looks sweeeet!! But i'de prefer a different battery pack shape.

That is pretty fast. I would hate that laying paint on my bunker in a match.

It's a great idea to have a boltless marker. I have to try one(possibly purchase) an e-epic.

Also i cant find a Roll Pin small enough to do the roller mod, but i have the gun till the end of the week so well see..

vids up soon..

Awesome, now get to work yourself redesigning that battery pack! Hey! Redesign my EMag one too!

AcemanPB
04-15-2003, 05:56 PM
It's just the prototype, I doubt the battery will stay that way. To me it looks like just a standard Epic with the battery and solenoid bolted on. I doubt the final product will looks like this.

And watching the gun fire over 10cps I guess they fixed some of the problems with older Epics, are they anymore efficent?

p8ntball72
04-15-2003, 06:31 PM
ho humm...this is how testing goes..

The with-paint videos arnt working as planned because im cameraman and shooter.
i can post a video but its not that impressive and not really one that im proud of as far as speed.
In this afternoons tests there were NO breaks
BUT the speeds were far lower than the gun is capable of doing.

as far as body design goes, there will be many changes before release.
there are a few really nice photoshoped automag bodies floating around this forum and Insight may do some polls for body design but thats "down the road" on my to/do list.

Thanks agine for all your input, and im sure Jim at Insight will be checking this thread often.

P.S. Efficiency test by the end of the week .
my scuba tank is empty..:D

I don't know what made me think of it, but I think a good nickname for this gun would be an E^2 (E-Squared). I was thinking b/c it was an e-epic, you could just take the two e's and say its an e squared.

p8ntball72

test marker is back at Insight and i will be getting another to test in a week or so.
the options are wide open on these new electros and all input from these posts are being considered.

anyone in socal that is interested in playing with a Epic here is the info..

a drivers liscense and a credit card? what are they working on the, you break it, you buy it, then you give it back policy? lol:D if they take teh cred card, just give them a fake liscense, and and old card that dont work. then after they say "have fun" walk like ur going to the field, then turn, and run like hel!:D

lol when I was downloading the second video, I went into another room where a tv was. At the time, Be Like That was playing on real player, then all of a sudden it was like BPBPBSSHSHBSHSHBHSBHBHS!!!!!!! I thought the song was messed up in the rip as I came running over (it was very loud) then I realized... it was the gun shooting extremely fast :)

I was impressed. I usually do 11bps on elwctros, so if that was 13 that someone here stated, I'd be set!

I just looked at the mpeg clip.

The fastest string appears to be the initial burst, however, it's too muddy to count all the peaks for each shot. The rest of the clip is easy to count though.

For a 1 second selection, the best I could find was 12-13.

Very inconsistant for counting. This is because you're walking the trigger. It would be in your company's best interest to include a FULL-AUTO (uncapped max ROF) feature for your prototype test marker. This way, you could clearly and easily record the best performance the marker could dish out.

My only suggestions/wishes for the marker,

- Vert feed
- standard 45 frame

Good luck and I look forward to the developement of the electro epic!

If this keeps turning into a sale post its going over to Dealers forum.

Do not post prices and where to buy them links here in Paintball Talk Forum. You do that over in Dealers forum.

Jack & Coke
04-22-2003, 09:48 AM
That's funny, I didn't see this as a "sales" thread.

I look at this one as an "update on the developement" type of thread.

It's only natural for some people to ask "How much?"

WARPED1
04-22-2003, 12:05 PM
I didn't see this turn into a sales thread ever, yes I think a few asked "how much?"(like me), but never "I'll give ya $800 for it now" or "sell it to me now.", opinion: I think you're seeing things in this particular thread phil.

cphilip
04-22-2003, 12:53 PM
Links to the sales place and discussing price is in here. And that we always ask you link over to Dealers for. Its the deviding line between spam and update. Thats all I was saying. It is starting to go that way. The proper response to "where can I get it" or "how much is it" is to say "Here is the link to my post in Dealer Forum"...

I didn't feel it had completely crossed that line so I thought a warning was advisable. Plus it points him in the right direction to do some business! Please don't always try to read a negative into any moderator action. Sometimes its to the persons advantage to know.

Actually the old ones were, i was considering getting one a while back. The 700 dollar price tag, ugliness of the gun, and slow ROF threw me off.

Now for 2003, they upped the bps of the gun to 12-15 and did some other internal modifications. For the most part thought its still ugly, but alot less money.

I would get it if it had:

1. Nice milled body, with a couple candy/metallic anno choices

2. Electro with rechargable battery as well as at least 15 BPS capability

3. 400-550 price tag.

4. Blade, double, or single trigger options

5. Also it would be nice if it could take aftermark regulators or gas-thru grips

6. Finally, had a 45 grip/ normal grip frame that could take standard aftermarket grips (ex. dye stickys)
