View Full Version : What kind of sunglasses do you have?

Just trying to figure out what other AOers wear, when its sunny out.

Reason why, because I have a pair of smoke dragon box sunglasses, they push down to hard on my ears, causing extreme pain after wearing them a whole 5 min.

So I wanted to see what other people had, so maybe I can get some ideas on what kind to get next.

Yeah, wal mart has great stuff, but anything I buy their always seems to get lost, or break.

Since I have the insanly terrible vision of a mole I have to go with prescription only glasses / sunglasses.

As of now I wear some nifty custom sunglasses from my "trip" to korea. Cost me about 60 bucks for em to! (and yes that is a killer deal for me and my 6 inch vision)

I don't have any sunglasses...

I'm supposed to have perscription(sp?) glasses for distance, but I'm too damn lazy to get them, lol. Don't really want them either.

I can't believe you find the boxes uncomfortable! I am on my third pair, metallic blue with chrome lenses. I also have a pair of green dragon traps, as well as a pair of the new black rubbery feeling spy scoop HS's.

For snowboard goggles, I have silver dragons with silver lenses and camo oakley A-frames.

I wear sunglasses that clip onto my regular glasses… not the flip down type, but the kind that use a spring and little brackets. They work very well and you can get them in both smoke and the orange color. I use the orange color since it not only reduces eye strain, but crisps up things as well. They are GREAT for shooting and driving.

I found a nice pair of Oakley A-wires about 2 years ago while swimming in the wave pool of water world:) they were pretty scratched, so I took them in to an oakley store at our mall, and they replaced the lens' for me, what a deal!

Oakleys. They are bronze colored metal frames with bronze mirrored lenses. I bought them last year at Ripoff Hut, er Sunglass Hut for around $125. I can't remember the model though. Really comfy and look good!

1st deadeye, it should say on the inside of the frame what model it is. Or else it doesn't, and I'm completely wrong.

They have CE stamped on the inside of the frame. What does that mean?

I have no idea... it doesn't say anything else, even on the rubber-ish gripping-your-head part?

I have 2 pairs of BOLLE's .... expensive (90+) but they're very light, very durable, and they just look slick. I've had em for about a year and I wear em everywhere outside cause they actually relax my eyes (no squinting)

Arnette Catfish and Oakley Eye Jackets (although I'm not too fond of the Eye Jacket style, but I got them for free so I'm not complaining. I need to replace my Catfish, both pairs are broken, including the ones I bought in Sydney Austrailia...

Along with my box dragons, I have a pair of jewel blue Rake dragons. The grips on the back of them stink, they are way to big, the lenses are huge. I think I need to try a different company.

I will go down to my local surf shop and try some this weekend, or the mall with sunglass hut.

(By the way, the rake dragons are for sale, go to the link in my sig.:), sorry, I really need to sell them)

Maui Jim's baby!! Best sunglasses you can buy. I rock the Ka'anapali's in both Gun Metal and Rose lenses (2 pairs). They are the lightest sunglasses out there, a mere 11 grams. The frames are made of a Beta-Titanium Alloy and they hug your face. I forget I am wearing them. I wear them while running and doing PT on the weekends, they've never fallen off my face.

I have several pairs of sunglasses. I have some blue Oakley Minutes that while they work well, they are a little annoying. I have some huge, and I mean, HUGE aviator sunglsses that I wear never. They cover most of my cheeks and are so dark I can practically use them when I weld. Finally, I have some supposedly polarized yellow, walmart brand sunglasses I got for $5. I like them the best

I'm on my second pair of Fuzion's from Zeal Optics. They fit snug and are very comfortable. The lenses are top quality, made with a special process in Japan making the optical clarity very clean. The polarizing is icing on the cake. The glasses are designed by former pro/am atheletes and are used a lot for winter and water sports where there's a lot of sun glare. Check thm out a "zealoptics.com"

My backup is a pair of wire framed Gargoyles. Not the ones that are still in the market. The ones I got around '95 were only produced in in small quantities.

Good luck with your selection.

Well, I went to the mall today, to get some new shoes, eat. Then made my way to Champs, to get some shorts, saw that they had sunglasses, saw some nice oakleys. Asked the sales assisant to open the case, let me see them, he did, I fell in love with them.

They are black oakley minutes, polarized. Priced at 150, had a sale for them at 80 bucks.

Oakley's are ridiculously expensive. I can't see paying that much for sunglasses.

Glasses are so easily broken/lost etc that I buy the $10 ones you get at highway rest stops. They work the same, there are tons of styles, and if you lose them you don't have to cry yourself to sleep over it.

My Oakleys cost me stuff all, and they're covered by warranty, so it's all good. They get used and abused, and still come out on top, so I'm happy with them. Had one pair run over by a forklift and not even crack, just had to put the bends back in them :D
