View Full Version : Why aren't velcro shoes fashionable?

I've been told that velcro shoes were ok when I was 5... and will be ok when I'm 60... this upsets me.

I remember being made fun of in middle school for wearing them... i specifically went out of my way to find them... which is difficult now.

I hate laces! Velcro makes so much more sense... But I don't wear velcro shoes now because it is laughable. :(

How about some good ol' chucks?

Good question! Heck, most of the kids I know don’t USE the laces on their shoes anyways. They keep them tied and slip them on and off.

But Velcro shoes are easy to get here in NH. Almost every shoe store has Velcro, lace, AND slip on/zippered sports shoes. And if they were not “fashionable” why would big name basketball players have shoes just like them carrying their name?

Velcro is fine in my book, not really MY style, but a heck of a lot better than the slip on/zipperd ones.

If you dont like laces why not get slip on's? I have a pair of K Swiss slip on's. There really comfy too :D

I run alot, and like hte ability to do so whenever I may need to... and I just need the tightenss you can get from laces. velcro is not an option.

And i don't see what people see in chucks. they remind me of clown shoes or soemthing. If I am going to buy a pair of shoes, tehy are going to be a high performance running shoe, not a flat soled dorky POS.

I don't really care what kind of shoes I wear. I just wear what I can get on and off fast, and what's nice and comfy. Right now, I wear big skate shoes that I can slip on and off, but tighten them if I need to.

Edit: Where in California are you, InfinatyBPS?

'cause it shows an aparent inability to manipulate your fingers in such a way as to tie a shoe. Not cool.So you make fun because you figure that guy probably can't give me the finger either.:D

Well, because apparantly,

Function < Fashion

Velcrow is definatley a more functional and easy-to-use means to secure your shoes, but they're hardly as sightly as laces.

i have a friend that wears velcro shoes to work. we all call him the old man. but then again, he acts more like he is 65 than 35 so i guess its acceptable on some level. my 2 year old loves his velcro shoes, he can put them on and take them off all by himself, just like a big boy. :D

Man, I remember sportn' the velcro back in the day. I know if they made some velcro shoes now that wouldn't get me made fun of by the ladies I'd pick some up.

Reef sandals, reebok high tops with a velcro strap on the top, for extra support, but I never use it.

Its true :) And it works (its nothing like slip on shoes)
And anyways, velcro wears out long before my shoes did
