I'm looking at buying a used Flatline that is about due to be hydroed. I'm not positive the tank will pass and i don't want to throw away a perfectly good reg. Becides the tank is one of the 47ci and i'd like to swap it out with an 68 or 88ci tank.

Can this be done? I've seen tanks for sale on ebay without regs. I think it just screws apart doesn't it?

Yes, just buy a new bottle and replace it. Have a SCUBA shop or your proshop (If they know what they're doing) remove the regulator and put it on the new tank.

Do NOT let them put any type of loctite on the threads. The threads should be dry, just a dab of oil on the o-ring that seals against the tank.

Ok, thanks. I know a guy who owns a dive shop so i'll just have him do it.

You should put blue loctite on the threads a o-ring alone can not stop 3000~4500psi

Yeah, you can do it. I had it done, actually...by accident. I took my in to get it hydroed and now i have a MUCH larger tank. Cant do anything though so im stuck with it, but the size is growing on me.
