I prefer Netflix. The DVD come to me in the mail, and I can keep them as long as I want without imploding:)

Well since the dvd will so called "rust' when it comes in contact with oxygen, what keeps people from finding a way to put a barrier to keep the oxygen out. How long do they keep people from figuring out some thing like thompson water seal would prevent the destruction?

great, one more piece of non-biodegradeable crap in the landfills.

the short term vision of some people is astounding.

I think it's going to be short lived and only on a minimum number of titles. Remember the anti-copy technology on some music cd's? It has come and gone and I have not seen it on any other cd's.

Wow, something more to piss me off. Just when I thought renting my DVDs and video was finally easy, it gets uselessly more complicated. I cann see this as another thing that will pile up my room slowly to the point I will be safe from nuclear blast.

They did this idea a long while ago before regular DVD's got popular... it didnt quite work out, although they didnt "self destruct"

Yeah, the anti copy CDs that Sony spent millions of dollars developing were, in the end, foiled by using a 50 cent magic marker to mark the outside edge of the disc.

I wonder how much time/money went into developing this, so that we can all laugh when some creative 14 year old realizes that if you spit a wad of Juicy Fruit on it and dip it in a bowl of Mt. Dew Amped, the dvd lasts forever.
