OK, I just bought a used 'mag yesterday, and, being an idiot, I decided I'd take it apart. I took out the on/off valve assembly (the cylinders, pin, and 2 o-rings) and noticed that I have a rather unusual valve top. It's brass, has holes all around the narrower section, but while most tops i've seen have a wider section under and above the narrow section, this one only has it underneath. So now I'm wondering which way goes in first, the narrow, or the wider section? (it kinda bounced when it popped out, so I can't remember which). Also, who makes it? I'll try to draw it, but it'll probably look really crappy.

OK, in a cross section, it looks like this:

aa_____
__|____|__
|________|

As opposed to most valves, which look like this:

_________
|________|
__|____|__
|________|

(I had to put the A's in to space it out, otherwise it would have deleted the empty spaces, so just pretend they're not there http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif)
P.S. If I take the outer piece off an expansion chanber (exposing the coils and o-rings and such), and when I do I hear a sort of hiss, have I blown a seal, and does that mean the ex chamber's useless?

The wider section goes up top, to butt up against the O-rings.
