Name the Frame Giveaway!!! (time to spice things up)

All of AO,

Time to get things cooking again and give some stuff away. This time you have to work for it. We need a name for our new 2x trigger frame and we want YOU to come up with a great one for us. If we decide to use the name you come up with you will win an RT Pro with the new 2x frame and Warp Feed. Second and third runners up will get a 2x frame and Warp Feed.

Because this is subjective I'm sure we are going to get complaints about why we picked the name we did. In order NOT to get everyone upset (see I'm learning from Fight Club) we will also do a random drawing for three more prize packages of 2x frame and Warp Feeds ( that's three more winners get a frame and warp each). Just to be clear there are three prizes for the name contest and three more just to keep everyone happy.

By entering this contest you agree to give up all rights to the name in exchange for the prizes. Once again to enter you have to post something nice here in this thread. You can either suggest a name or just post. Winners in the name contest are not eligible to win in the random drawing. This means you can't win twice. If two of the same names are suggested by different people the first post takes priority. The first poster takes the prize, second guy is out of luck.

This one is going to go fast we need a name before Am Open. Next Sunday night we will post the winners here and if I can get Rob and the guys together we will parallel post in the chat room.

At any time AGD reserves the right to change the rules for any reason, because we are new at this and probably doing something wrong.

One idea that would be an ‘inside’ thing, would be that since you said “(see I'm learning from Fight Club)”, why not call it “The AGD Piece-maker 2x”? LOL This is not maybe the most original name, but being that it still sounds cool, AND would have inside meaning to those here, it would be great.

Other names could be:
“PE Dagger” (player’s edge)
“PE Pro Dagger” (this could be the name OR an upgrade name)
“AGD PM Elite”

I personally like the AGD PM Elite (or PM Elite for short) because of its “history”. Piece making is what we all want after the FC stuff. Elite was about the most used “catch phrase” used during that mess. And using the initials is quick and snappy off the tongue.

For those who KNOW the history, it has special meaning.. and for those who DON’T, it still sound “bad”.

In all seriousness I really wouldn't be buying exclusively your products if I didn't feel they were the best value for the money. Besides that I have always said mags are for monkeys not because they suck but because even an unskilled person like myself can perform maintenance on a mag and understand how it works. Furthermore it is sooooo reliable that I don't have to worry about it when I take it on the field. Your air tanks are great for the money and everyone said it. As a matter of fact I tend to wonder how different your flatline reg is from an AA armageddon since you made the regs for AA a long time ago, but I won't tell anyone they can pay more for the AA's http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif Anyway super job tom and company, you do a lot for the sport and you make things that the customer wants but in quantities large enough to make it feasible for most people to afford one.

There are so many good names out there but here it goes, I envision the new frame and the warp feed as phases of an upgrade system that I will call the "Warp System". Since the Warp Feed came out first, you could call it Warp Phase 1. The new frame could be called the Warp Frame, and thus be Warp Phase Two. This can go on and on, culminating in what I would call the "E-Warp", which would be an E-mag w/ the a new warp feed modular body, the soon to be released Flatline 4500, the warp feed, the new trigger frame, and any other improvements that AGD will come up with, I'm sure. So what do you think? I know it sounds a little corny but I had to come up with something. All I can say is that I love my gun and I am thankful to the company that makes it. Have fun.

I have to agree, people are getting WAY out of hand. Listing 20 names that have little thought to them doesn’t help AGD much.

When coming up with product names it is much more than what sounds “kool” to a bunch of teenagers. Maybe if people STOP posting so many names and put a couple minutes into maybe 5 or so, it would actually HELP AGD. After all, like someone alluded to, even posting ONE name will get you in the contest…. So why not actually take the time to make a positive contribution?

I would like to offer a few steps to take before posting a name:

1) The name needs to FIT the product and its intended use.
2) The name must fit the target audience (seems any name would do this though… LOL)
3) The name can NOT be one readily identifiable with another product (this seems to rule out 90% of the run-on lists given so far).
4) The name should be MORE than just a description, synonym, adj., etc (or for that matter just the name of an object or animal).
5) The name should roll off the tongue and stick in the head.

I am not saying that you all need to follow these “advised” rules, but since I have had to come up with product names in the past (as well as slogans, and even new business names), I know at a minimum, these 5 rules ARE used to determine the viability of new names.

Although this contest DOES help YOU, it is also designed to help AGD… so please keep that in mind when just dropping long lists. It doesn’t help your chances any more than putting ONE good name up, and actually just gives them more useless stuff to throw out. If they wanted that, they could have just opened a Dictionary and Thesaurus. Come on guys.

I am not intending to offend anyone. After all, there WERE some good names out there.. but I think everyone knows what I am trying to say.

blade grip (for blade trigger)
warp trigger (to go with the warp feed)

2. The blade is probably the best but a duplicate I am sure.
3. Lighting grip.
4. The ELF. Enhahanced link frame. Only the people on AO would get it though.
5. The Banshi. Sticking with the elf theme this frame screams. LOL I crack myself up.
6. Make it mac compatable and call it the
i-grip for interlink. RLOL again. I have not had enough sleep sorry.
7. The straight shooter since Quality always shoots straight.

I like hitman's suggestion of ELF or Enhanced Link Frame. It's descriptive of the product, sticks in the mind and is a fitting salute to the members of AO. I skimmed through the postings and so far my two favorites were by Shartly and BigZamboni. Shartly's suggestion being "AGD PM Elite". As he put, it has a 'history' behind the word. One with a meaning to those who know of it and still enough of a catchy phrase for the rest of the open market.

My favorite has to be BigZamboni's "Advanced Grip Design". LIke he said, it isn't flashy... but it has a certain level of class to it, and the simple yet meaningful use of the words points to the high quality productions of AGD. And in turn I believe that it'll leave an impression on the minds of those who hear of the name, the usual reminder of the excellence in AGD's designs and service. Besides I don't think you really do need a 'flashy' name at all. Most out there will take one look at it and drool for one! http://www.automags.org/ubb/wink.gif

As for you guys and the ladies over at AGD I have nothing but respect as well as customer satisfaction for you. Respect in the way you run your business, with quality and care for your customers. A business ran in a manner which every good businessmen and woman know equates to a great future in any market. The satisfaction comes from knowing that each time I purchase a product that has come out of your designs and productions will be of the highest caliber. Should it have an internal defect or an inherent problem in it's design, then I also know AGD will be there to 'fix' whatever error made. In an industry growing rapidly and with so many companies that claim one thing or another in it's ads, AGD stands out. I've yet to hear a major complaint in defects or customer service, or the lack of such. Even from among those who admittedly rather use a cocker and 'dislike' Mags, you can always find more than handful in one given group that still talk of it's quality and care.

Also since finding the AO forum I've posted constantly of how thankful I am for it's existence. I am very new to the sport, with only three field days worth of experience and my first game being less than two months ago. I can honestly say after my first day of paintball I came home and have been pretty much to almost all the 'known' paintball sites out there online. I devoured on materials and information written, as well as those posted in forums everywhere. Still, the bulk of all that I know about paintball has come from this forum. Through the searches and daily postings by those who visit here. Everything from the technical aspects as well as the recent post about what people do to prepare for a game the day before.

This relates to AGD in the fact that they maintain a forum such as this for the sole purpose of having constant contact and feedback by it's fans/customers. Not only do you guys over at AGD post here, but actually 'respond' to the various comments and questions put forth by us on a daily basis. Even just to say "your welcome" to a short post saying thank you. I'd say that's a class act. http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif

Most of all the level of open kindness and indepth responses given by those who frequent the site. It can only reflect the company that attracts these great guys/gals that take a minute out of their day to help out someone like me, and all the others out there who are sure to come.

After reading the last seven pages of suggestions for the Double Trigger Frame, I must say there is some stiff competition on AO. Hopefully I can stack up. Here is my main entry:

V^2 (Velocity Squared)

I tried to get the number “2” in exponent font, but unfortunately the formatting wouldn’t hold whenever I cut and paste from MS Word.

My runner-up ideas:

Thinking about the double-trigger style, it reminded me of a Camel’s hump so you could call it the “Double Hump” or “The Humper”, though there is probably too much sexual innuendo with that one. Speaking of Camels, you could name it “Lucky Strike”, and that made me think of fire alarms and easy ways to turn them off when you fall asleep in your armchair smoking, which led me to the “Clapper” of “clap-on, clap-off” fame, or the “Clamper” and the slogan would obviously be “clamp on, walk off… the Clamper.” Then for all of you Star Wars fans, you could call it “The Wookie”, and from there the next logical step is to call it “Dos Equis”… or even “The Silver Bullet”. Mmmm, beer. And thinking of the mess you’re going to make of the competition or yourself after a night of heavy drinking, you could call it “The Cleaner”, “The Steamer” or “The Professional” as you will probably need a professional cleaner. Now, if you called it “The Steamer” that is a lot like clams, so you could name it “Rock Lobster” or “Pincer Grip”. But on second thought, maybe not http://www.automags.org/ubb/wink.gif
