Hi,

Since I have been on sick leave (workmans' comp case foot injury at work), my girlfriend and I have been renting alot of flicks.

Lately, we have been renting a few good flicks such as Family Man. However, what is up with the junk that Hollywood has been releasing? Saving Silverman had to be the worst movie I have seen since renting some Playboy soft porn flick (I hate to say it but I was actually quite pissed at the movie with a chick taking her top off every other minute.) Saving Silverman had a few funny parts but the lead actress got pretty annoying. The three friends were the same way. A person who I liked his work,R. Lee Ememory, i lost some respect from with the "kissing" scene at the end. (Ememory was a real USMC DI in the late 60's. His lines in FMJ was extremely true to life according to an intereview he did a few years back.)

Anyway, Saving Silverman made the Ladies Man look really good. I don t know but it seems like comedy is not comedy anymore. There have been a few funny ones made. Most are just some crap thrown together. Scary Movie 2 I thought was one of the better ones in awhile. My girlfriend disagree to being equal or better to the first one.

Just venting,
Alan

If anyone remembers the Clerks trilogy, it was always "Stoner Jay and Silent Bob". I guess Hollywood couldn't have that in a big mainstream movie. Damn political correctness.

Don't go see "The Fast and the Furious", as it is an insult to American cars!!!

A good movie to rent would be Friday, Army of Darkness is good too.

Anything by the Coen Bros. Escpecially Raising Arizona and Fargo.
My wife and I also rented Proof of Life a few days ago and it was actually pretty good, despite the crappy reviews it got.

Agreed. I refuse to watch a movie that calls CIVICS racecars. I don't care how much you mod a civic, a 'stang or 'vette will beat it down any day.

Apoc-Now is paralleled with a book called "heart of darkness." I can't remember the author right now... It's late and a lot of my books are packed away and in storage. THe same author did "the secret sharer." It's quite an interesting book.

As far as movies go, Here's a few:

The Usual Suspects (EXCELLENT! WATCH IT!)
Enemy at the Gates
Saving Private Ryan
Apocalypse Now
Full Metal Jacket
Platoon (Watch this one too!)
Big Daddy (You're prolly wondering where this one came from http://www.automags.org/ubb/wink.gif)
Meet Joe Black (Good flick, take your G/F for this one)
The Hurricane (D-Zel, Yeah baby!)
The Mummy
The Mummy Returns

I'll post again if I can think of more...

My all time favorite is Fight Club. Heres the reast that are great watching, no particular order.

-Billy Madison :Gotta love this flick!
-Strange Brew :Got me saying Eh? I love the toys too.
-Clerks KS movie :greatly written. Funny as ill.
-Dogma :Had me pondering everything while laughing my _ _ _ off.
-Mallrats :Great movie. "The guy from Fashionable Male?"
-Stalag 17 : Depicted war camps soo soo wrongly.
Saving Private Ryan :What can I say, one of ther greatest war flicks ever.
Robocop :I love this movie so much for some reason. Been wathcin it for years. The sequals are horrible though.
-The whole Star Wars Trilogy :The originals. SW:POTM sucked too much. I hate Jar Jar!
Space Balls :A great Mel Brooks film spoofing Star Wars
-And with the abover one anything Mel Brooks!!!
-The Four Rooms :Quenton Tarrentino flick. Well put comedy. Its great.
-Pulp Fiction :Its just a great movie!!!
Army of Darkness :Shop Smart, Shop S mart.
-Trainspotting :Agreat drama about heroin users in Londan i believe.
-CKY2K :I skate, its a great vid. Even though i knew about before the mainstream ruined it. By the some of the Jackass crew.
Full Metal Jacket :Just a great war movie about vietnam.
I forgot about Faces of Death, it these are great movies that will open your eyes and de sensatize you. Great to teach rounger ones that death is not pretty or funny. And its not glamourize dliek hollywood. I also laugh, well, because i gues sim either really sick or really de-sensaized.

That all I can think about now. I suggest goin gto Hollywood video or Blockbuster and renting everysingle one and watch them all in like a whole non-stop week. But thats not gonna happen.

Wrong. I feel for you man but American cars just can't compete. First off, the Civic is about half the weight of a vette or a stang and when you add in all the supercharging and what not you can get a 380+ hp, 0 - 60 in 3.4 sec Civic.

In the old days it was all muscle. Todays it brains leading the muscle.

"Deep Impact (so you can see, me! +Tia Leone is HOT)" - Army
Are you in the movie Army? Yes, Tea Leone is scrumptous, shes married to the monotone David Duchovny?
Ick, not the car debate again. I might as well say it:
American pride baby! Rice burners bite....Do the same to an american car with the turbos and such(if you can that is) and then see who wins...again...
And besides, only that tiny percent really know what they are doing to rice burners to make them actaully be worthwhile. Otherwise the majority are silly teens early 20's who do mainly cosmetic stuff to make it LOOK fast and SOUND fast with huge grapefruit shooting exhausts. you spend all that money to make the darn think LOOK fast when you spend the same amount of money on a beamer M3 or(euroes are so sweet), or a STOCK SVT for about the same price.
Add on-Sorry about this, This may turn this movie thread into a flame about cars. http://www.automags.org/ubb/frown.gif

Flamebo: They don't race a single civic in the Movie, the civic's are used to 'jack semi's. Race cars are Eclipse's, Supra's, S2000's, Firebird's and such. A mustang can't even compete with a stock eclipse, let alone a modded one, and 'vette's are all show. the only stock muscle out there today is the Viper, Firebird, and Z-28.

Also to whoever's was complaining about renaming 'Stoner Jay' he's now 'Jay Phat Buds' which is even more blunt.

hmm strange, some of the movies I like are

Pulp Fiction
4 Rooms
Fight Club was okay
*Snatch
*Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels
Nothing To lose was nice for a comedy

* I put the asterix there because I liked the movies although Vinnie Jones was in them. I really looked forward to watching him in a movie until I heard he actually was a thug in reality and that he wento to prison for beating his wife. He was also a semi famous athlete.

Where exactly do you get your information? A stock eclipse has no chance beating a mustang with an engine about 450ci. No chance.

Corvette's are not "all show".

A stock firebird isn't packing much of an engine.

And if the movie you're talking about is The Fast and the Furious, the only car worth talking about is the Dodge Charger. (The black car)

3.4 seconds. Funny. Very funny.

Now, I'll take my '64 chevelle with it's 548ci of pure muscle, with it's blower and have 900+ horse power.

The ONLY way for a 4cyl civic to even compete is if it has naus. But that would only beat maybe a 502ci or below.

And please...0-60 in 4-6 seconds MAYBE, but not below 4. That accerlation won't do anything after 1/8 of a mile.

American muscle looks better too.

Umm, Magman5446: A mustang has a 281ci engine these days, for 260HP, in a car that weighs almost 1000lbs more than an eclipse, which is 210HP on the GSX. The corvette has the same engine as the Z28 and Firebird Formula, a choice of a 310HP or 325HP 350ci engine, but costs twice as much as either of the pony cars, ergo it's all show.
