haha, that topic got you good didnt it? well heres what happened. i just went to my store and bought myself a healthy supply of paintballs. i bought 2000 PMI premiums, as per AO's suggestions for a good rec ball. but i just put a ball in my barrel, a 12 inch longshot on my timmy, and there is SOOOOO much space! a real lot of space inbetween the barrel and ball. in other words, my balls are way too small for my barrel. i hate to be NOOB-ified here, but im just wondering what other peoples experiences are with this situation? ill probably borrow a cocker-owning friends DYE excel anyway, but if i cant, will my accuracy be down the crapper? or will i just have to turn my velocity over normal to get it to be normal?

how small? do the balls just roll out of the barrel? if they are that small, youll probably see a big drop in consistency and gas efficiency.

yup, THAT small

I used that stuff last weekend. It is small, shot pretty good, but hard to see the breaks on dark clothing. I ended up using the .686 back on my pipe. You have anything around that bore size?

.686! wow thats small! the longshot im using i tihnk is .689 or .690, im gonna use the xcel next week, but i might play again this week

Usually what I find when someones balls are way too small is that they get bunkered all day long.....
:D

I think the Xcel is a large-bore barrel... :(

I probably could've gone to the .689, but the .686 shot good so I didn't mess with it.

When your balls are too small, girls laugh at you.

It will prollyy drop your effiency, lower velocity, and kill accuracy... I dunno, lol

Borrow a small bore barrel from someone. Xcels are large bore, so don't use that.

that longshot you have is approx .695 It's friggin huge. Maybe the excel (which people here are saying is 690) will be a better barrel for the paint you have. Give it a try.

your efficiency will be shot to hell with either barrel, but you might get slightly better accuracy with the excel.

yeah the excel's are HUGE. But not bigger than that longshot by a longshot.

accuracy isnt too much of a problem, but gas effeciency is terrible, and velocity plummets. Its bad.

They probably wont be able to put out that much paint :D

As others have said, you should find that your efficiency is terrible. However, you should also notice that the consistency between shots is better. You can crank and crank on the velocity adjuster and make very little difference. The more you try to increase the velocity the more air escapes around the paintball. As long as you have the velocity in this range it will be MORE consistent. You'll pay for it with FAR less shots per fill.

If all you have is that bore size and don't have anything else to shoot. You could put a small dot of nail polish on the inside of the barrel. Similar to using a ball detent. Now, before I get flamed for this... 1) It does not replace a good multi bore/multi barrel setup. 2) You will still get poor efficiency. 3) You will probably eventually wear through the nail polish.

Now, when using a drop of nail polish I recommend a small drop. If it is too big, you may chop or just knock it loose in the first couple of shots.

Disclaimer: I won't take any responsibility if this causes any damage to your barrel. This is the old school way we used to fit paint to large bore barrels if we didn't have the right size available. :)

Thank you freak set!

just ride the wave. you might laugh you might cry but try and have a good time :) throw your paintballs. stab people with a paintbrush. or maybe you could trade paint? sorry i dont usually like to ask people questions like this in these situations when i feel bad for them but why didnt you do a little research? see if the seller will buy em back from you or maybe you could sell em back half the case or whatever you havent used

All I shoot anymore is PMI premium , it is a small bore paint you need a .686-.684 barrel to shoot it good . A lapco Autospirit shoots it very well .

I shoot that stuff too, but I use a .689 insert for my Freak. My very first shot seems to be a double ball, but I think that is because my ball detent isn't all that great. But I haven't had any problems with consistency. But then again....I don't recall any balls rolling out of my barrel???

Great stuff to use with an Dye SS 12".

Shoots like darts, plus if your gun malfuctions you can always whip out the barrel and run bezerker at someone =) 12 inches of stainless makes quite a weapon!
