Ok, I want to hear what you think is the best out of box? Meaning take it out of the box and add air, maybe even charge the batteries?

Well, there are many… but let me tell you about my RT Pro….

I took it out of the box, took off the warning sticker on the barrel, put the barrel on it, put on a drop, put on a quick disconnect, and she was ready to play! Nothing more had to be done. And I could have actually just connected the air source and used it, but I wanted the drop and QD.

So, AGD gets a big thumbs up for the RT Pro being a fantastic “out of the box” marker.

I took my xmag out, put my drop on, hooked up my 4500 flatline, and amazed all my friends.

I think all AGD markers are great right out of the box. Even the classic is awesome out of the box (well I guess that isnt true because it doesnt come with a barrel or any hoses)
I think tippmanns are great out of the box as well.

X-Mags, more recent E-Mags, Vikings, Excaliburs, Angels, pretty much any Cocker over $700.

I think the best out of the box marker would have to be about any entree level blowback, most noteably the tipmann 98.

I used my MiniMag "out of the box" for the first three years I owned it before I ever put a dime into it (or bothered to clean it for that matter). The Mag just hasn't ever failed me.

dont you have to tune the lx on rtp's and xmag's?

trev_pbller

No, they already come factory tuned ready to shoot out of the box. At least my new RTP with X-valve did...

im gonna have to say vikings/angels/mags. all these guns require nothing but air and paint right out of the box.

Assuming out of the box includes charging if nessecary, then I'd have to vote for Angels, the L 7 mags and any PPS gun. Maybe a FreeFlow cocker too. There are a lot of other good guns but most at least need a better barrel *cough* Tippmann *cough*

You guys gotta be kidding me. These lower end guns dont require and dropforwardss etc.

My buddy recently got his Tippman A-5, plugged in air and played no problems. The rest of my buddies were so impressed that they bought theirs at the field (despite my protests, since buying markers at field doesn't qualify as frugal shopping) and played within minutes.

CCI's phantom!!!!!!!

other then needing to be worked in, there is no nicer shooting gun out of the box. need proof? find me aftermarket bits. other then a few (very few) aftermarket barrels, and maybe a regulator. it can't really be upgraded, more like options, not upgrades. and even the stock bareel is pretty gosh darn good, negating, for the most part, the need for another, though paint matching can be difficult.

so there's my vote the phantom, almost unchanged since the start.

cheers

i'd have to disagree on the aka products, as they have a break in period.. in which they have to be sent back to the factory for tune ups :(

But having ANY breakin period, or having to do ANY tuneups doesnt seem to me like a best-out-of-the-box-marker to me.

I think most high end markers are good out of the box. You really can't go wrong with a viking, excal, x-mag, nyx matrix, angel speed, etc. out of the box... I would say X-mag, but the stock barrel isn't too great...

I played with both my Viking, and my Excal straight out of the box, and never had a single problem with either. Never changed the LPR on either, threw in a battery, added paint and air, and then didn't worry about them.

People make a huge deal about the "break in" period for no real reason.

That being said, my X-mag was the same way.

Best marker out of the box is the CCI Phantom. Mask, paint ,air and fun.

You know, the old splat masters are good out of the box...

You don't need to do anything to those.

throw one more in for the CCI Phantom. Sweetest out of the box marker on the planet, not one single bit of effort required.

Phantoms IMHO are the best right out of the box.

RT Pros, Angels, and Vikings are nice too.

I've only owned one brand new gun and that was my 98c. I used it with the stock barrel and have to say it would qualify only if you're talking about first timers ease of use.

All of the rest of the guns I've owned have been used "problem children" that I've had to tinker with. The gun I've used "stock" (meaning un-upgraded) the most is my Phantom. It "needs" no upgrades. (I've since added a shoulder stock and ghost ring to it though so its no longer "stock".)

This is a very interesting thread, but maybe qualifiers need to be added. After all, if I paid more than $400 for a gun, it had better not need an upgrade right out of the box. Perhaps "Best Beginner's Gun", "Best Rec Ball Gun", "Best Tourney Gun" etc. would be a better idea. Comparing my 98c to an Autococker is like oranges and apples.

I'd have to say the absolute best out-of-the-box gun has to be the phantom. I know many people who have simply put on a tank (or 12gram if they choose), and threw some paint in a hopper(or SC tube) and went to town. People have played for years with their phantoms, no aftermarket barrels, no trips to an airsmith to get the electric doodads working again, no timing, no replacing parts constantly, no new internals needed,no nothing. That's why I'd say the phantom qualifies as the best out of box gun... even though I may be a bit biased  .

I think the better question would be which gun has the best price/performance ratio...i.e. for a set price range which marker gives you the best bang for your buck...

Albinonewt: yes that is a phantom, but there are many different configurations you can order from the factory.

m98 is the best out of the box, the things are unbreakable? how many people do you know that have stripped the barrel threads on a tippy 98, how many guns do you know of that you can run co2 when its 12 degreese outside with your hands sticking to your gun and still be shooting consistantly

tippy 98 wins

mac-1 Annihilater, used mine for 14 years right out of the box. best factory custom pump gun ever made.
it sat in the gun cabinet for a couple years at a time off and on, i could take it out, load and gas it up and go to town.
