hey, as the subject states, i have a question about barrel length. when some one says that they have a 12" x-brand mag barrel, does that mean that the barrel is 12" including the t-lock part, or does it mean that the part protruding from the body is 12"?

thanks

I believe it means the entire barrel length is 12"...which means about 10" out of the gun. I'm not sure, but that is a good question. At least that's how I've always measured mag barrels.

ive alwaws measured the entire barrel, give me a minute, i have a DYE wich is supposed to be 14in, ill go measure and see what it is.

ok, i just checked, the 14in was the entire barrel, there was only 10~11in sticking out when the barrel was in the gun ;)

Every company seems to have thier own way of measuring barrel length. So there really isn't any "correct" way to measure.
I found that most lengths are typically only "close" regardless of the manufacturer and regarding the Mag twistlock and lengths, well that's one of lifes big mysteries.

if you buy a 14in smart parts freak from tip to tip it will be like 16 or 17in because they makes it so you have 14in of functional(sp) berral

Actually the "functional" lenght of ALL Freaks are 5" which is the length of the insert. The rest is simply porting.
