hi all....me and my good friend have decided to take a p.o.s. car w/ a good engine, drivetrain and chassis, and turn into a full fledged off road buggy....... we have discussed what we have in mind, and decided to get some opinions on type of car we should use...

-what we think-
-completly stripped down body
-completly stripped interior
-custom welded roll cage, and metal sheeting covering engine and vitals (gas tank)
-knobby,heavy duty tires
-suspension upgrades
-5 pnt racering seats w/ harnesses

what we need help on-
we have decided to go w/ a automatic for starts but we think it should be floor mounted....now we need a car rear wheel drive/awd...... any suggestions on models and makes???????????

If you have the ability both the Saab and Subaru AWD system are the best. Audi's Quattro drive was also banned from competition becuase most oficials felt it gave the drivers an unfair advantage.

For utter cheap-ness, get a Samari.

Don't bother doing anything to it, just buy one for $800 and then wail on it. Me and my bud went bought one about three months ago, and I have no idea how things rolled in the first place... He's sending me a mpeg video of a jump we did with it...wow. it's also something for our kids to ride in when the dirt bikes are taken.

But the beauty of it is, when you break it, and you will, just strip what you want and buy another one. http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif repeat.
