the more shims the sooner the level 10 starts venting gas. (at least thats what I understand). they differ for pretty much everyone, i've got 2 in mine right now

the way i understand it, too many shims and it will leak down the barrel, and not enough, and it will be hard on paint

I've played arround with various combinations.
The only difference I've seen is how much pressure the bolt has when it stops on an object.

I played all day yesterday w/o shims.. no breaks, but when i stuck an alen key down there, the bolt seemed to hit pretty hard. I think I'll play with 2 in today.

They are pretty small, I've never heard of anyone saying "how many" will actualy make the gun constantly leak. I would assume it's quite a few.

mine leaks non stop w/ 3 and none whatsover w/ 2. as thin as they are i wouldnt think the difference between 2/3 would be so drastic but on mine, it is.

The shims are like the old Power Tube spacers you used to use in the different lengths to prevent bolt stick and prefire leaks. You use them the same way. They make the Level 10 Carrier longer or shorter. You adjust them with more or less of them, as you might need, to cure these issues if you have them. They do not do anything more than turn the carrier into a PT spacer of various lengths. Like you use to buy different PT spacers to do.

Not do anything else...

I most often find two shims works for me.
