since SP continues to deny it is open bolt (in addition to sueing everyone in sight), all the SP lovers believe it is....thus proof

I was told by a guy from SP that it was Open Bolt....I didn't know people argued otherwise.

Man, that gun looks so much sexier in black. Hopefully someone locally will be able to pick one up so I can try it out.

I shot the 2k3 Shocker at IAO and can verify the open bolt as well. Honestly, the gun didn't impress me all that much.

Kev: Did they bring out that black one Sat/Sun? I didn't see the one in the pictures there with Scott and Prairie.

correct me if im wrong but i thought sp made two models of the shocker an open bolt and a closed bolt and they decide that the open bolt had two many problems with it so they opted for a closed bolt. i swear i heard this sumwhere but idk. rumors spread fast in paintball.

i hate SP those bastards sue everyone and they basically color copied the xmag...

Catch22

Umm didn't they copy the whole look from X-mag basically. it's a tube with a trigger frame.

You have no clue how business works do you?
When you design something, something that you are going to make money off of so you can buy food, a house, a car, some clothes, and a color TV for your bedroom, you want to protect your source of income, correct? Hence why patents are around. Smart Parts, being the brilliant minds they are, patended various technologies...making them the sole legal propietors of anything using that design. Now, Company B comes along and produces a product using technology that Smart Parts has a patent on(so they could protect their source of income). It is in Smart Parts best interest to protect it even further, and prevent Company B from treading into Smart Parts design territory. They are protecting their investment.

Smart Parts is smarter than you, and that's why they drive nice cars and can play X-ball and still run a successful company or two company...because they are smart businessmen.

And furthermore, like catch22 said, it's a tube on a gripframe with another tube on it...that's note exactly some unique design here chap. And plus, the X-mag has breech modules, whereas the 2k3 shocker does not.

I still want a 2k3 shocker though. That black is hot.

Wow that gun is ugly.

I dono what you find ugly about it, its not over done like timmies. Its not tall like everyone hated about shockers before. I think it looks awsome.

The sp site says its closed bolt, maybe the eye shuts the bolt when balls drop in it... that would make for good anti chop. I bet a penny im right!

*notes that he said all of this back when it was first shown to the public at the chicago PSP event*

As for efficancy, 1100 shots off a 68/45 as quoted by the older of the gardiners.

Hey...that aint bad looking. :D Im really tired of crazy milled Timmies, the sleek and basic looks are what gets my attention. Maybe five months ago a Dragon Timmy looked good and now it doesnt, call me a fad cruiser but I think the Shocker is gonna set off a buncha basic designs. Anyway, I think the grip is horrid though. It looks so outta place, and im sure a loottt of people are gonna have to adjust to the size of this marker. As for the open bolt issue, I dont see why SP continues to back it. Do they think the dumb fanboys who consider closed bolt more accurate still flood the market? Well maybe they are right..but anyway. They found out the open bolt was faster, not that it was slower and didnt work. Closed bolt the bolt has to cycle a lot more, so naturally a bolt that doesnt have as much cycling makes a marker able to be fired faster. :D And yes the efficiency is still....emm...not great. I dont plan on getting one, but all I say is hey...dont I get free air anyway? Well thats my bit, night. :D

Agreed. I have never liked timmy milling, and the lasoya convinced me they had no taste left. We'll be seeing a simplicity trend here soon.:)

I think you will find that the X-mag was one of the first sleek designs (well after some of the angels that is), and when the first new shocker pictures came out eveyone was saying how much it looked like an X-mag.

abec, it is open bolt. SP haven't updated their web page or they are just spouting hype again.

Did anyone actually see a shocker being used at IAO ? A couple people were carrying them around but I suspect it was a SP ploy to hype them a little bit more and convince people that they are on the verge of releasing it . Also SP was one of the few companies that didn't have an aired-up marker you could test shoot at their booth :(

An aired up Shocker made it by the booth and I got to fire a few shots before it ran out of air (thanks everyone for being a hog:))It was small and really light but the trigger was'nt too impressive, in my opinion. I'm not going to rush out to buy one.

LOL, I'm the ugly one in the first couple of pictures holding the Shocker. When I asked SP if I could hold it, I was actually suprised they said yes. The gun felt ok, but then a again the tank was empty and when I left they did the video.....I thought they told me something about shooting the gun.....

still more hype from SP
"...a sleek body design that fetures a single bore construction, closed bolt operation, and no external moving parts."

Yeah they did have a testing model all you had to do was ask to have one aired up for you. I shot one and thought the trigger was nice, not the fastest but comfortable enough. It was also very compact with a 45/45.
