I'm looking into learning bass guitar, and I'm wonder if any brands in particular are better than others. Thanks in advance!

Can't go wrong with a FENDER P-Bass.

I'm not a big fan of their pricier models but the low end Fender/Squier basses do give high bang-for-buck ratio. Also some Ibanez basses are pretty good. Whichever way you go just make sure to try out at least three or four models before you make a decision. Even if you don't know how to play yet you want an axe that feels right for YOUR hands.

If you do go Squier, make sure it's not an Affinity series if they still even make those. Ibanez are alright, but I don't trust their lower models either. If cheap is what you're looking for, check out this place www.rondomusic.com Factory direct = Better quality at a lower price. Hope this helps.

Beginner basses are relativly cheap. DO NOT BUY ROUGE!!! fender isn't bad. squire is cheap fender.
If you can spend a few more bucks buy an ibanez. I bought one a while ago and I've always been happy with it. I just sold it Sunday on e-bay so now I can finally afford my X-Valve!!!!

I've owned a BBG4 for a few years now and I refuse to sell it.
