For my sociology class I have to find a song that deals with racism, prejudice, discrimination, or anything along those lines. You guys got any ideas? Changes by 2pac and Where is the Love by Black-Eyed Peas are already taken. Thanks!

"Pride (in the name of love)" by U2 is about Martin Luther King Jr. I think that should qualify.

Songs that go against it? or songs that cause it?

911 For Peace by Anti-Flag falls in there somewhere.

It's in the paper every day
I see it in the headlines and I feel so sick, yeah
Another life leaves this world (this world) so full of hate
But short
Short on compassion
Short on humanity
Asking myself in vain, shaken by the shock,
"do we even have a chance?"

I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human.
It's time to prove it.

This is a plea for peace (world peace)
To the oppressors of the world and to
To the leaders of nations, corporate profit takers,
to the everday citizen
Greed, envy, fear, hate-- the competition has to stop.
When you see someone down, now's the time to pick them up
Set aside your differences and never look back, no

I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.

Isn't everybody tired of the fighting? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the killing? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired of the dying? (hey, hey)
Isn't everybody tired fo the hatred? (hey, hey)
Violence.. fighting... killing...dying.. aaaaaaah!!

[excerpt from Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech:]
And so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow,
I still have a dream
we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children,
black men and white men
Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics, will be able to join
hands and sing
"Free at last, free at last.
Thank God Almighty, we are free at last."

I don't wanna die
(I don't wanna kill)
I don't wanna kill
(I don't wanna die)
We are all human
It's time to prove it.

We are all human
It's time to prove it.
We are all human...

Just songs that discuss these topics, whether its causes, specific examples (such as Wyclef's song about Amadou Diallo), current situations, or maybe the future. The song doesn't have to be preaching against it (although I imagine most do).

Thanks for the suggestion Blennidae!

Always need excuse to post these lyrics. Sorry for the caps, that is how the site was.

Sick of it All - Just Look Around

THE QUESTION THEY KEEP ASKING ME
HOW CAN ONE SO YOUNG BE SO BITTER AND ANGRY
THE ANSWER IS PLAIN TO SEE
MAYBE IF THEY WEREN'T SO BLIND THEY'D SEE WHAT I SEE
I SEE THE HOMELESS LIVIN' OUT ON THE STREET
ON EVERY CORNER THEY'RE ASKING FOR MONEY
I TRY TO HELP THEM WHENEVER I CAN
BUT SOMETIMES I CAN'T AFFORD TO HELP MYSELF
I SEE DISEASES AND MODERN PLAGUES OF OUR TIMES
THE GREED OF OUR LEADER HAS MADE THEM BLIND
TO OUR PROBLEMS
THEY SPEND MILLION OVERSEAS, PEOPLE RIGHT HERE
ARE FIGHTIN' WARS EVERYDAY

I SEE THE WHITES THAT HATE THE BLACKS
BLACKS AGAINST JEWS, RACE AGAINST RELIGION
AND THEY'RE ALL TOO BLIND TO SEE

WHEN WE FIGHT EACH OTHER IT PUTS ALL OF THEM AT EASE
IT KEEPS US SO BUSY, THEY CAN DO WHATEVER THEY PLEASE
ELECTION TIME COMES, AND THEY'RE OUT FOR VOTES
THAT'S WHEN YOU SEE AND HEAR FROM THEM THE MOST
THIS IS WHAT THEY'RE CALLIN' A DEMOCRACY
THAT'S JUST ANOTHER WORD FOR HYPOCRISY
WE KEEP FALLIN' FOR THE BAIT
WHEN WE REALIZE, IT'S ALWAYS TOO LATE

I SEE THE WHITES THAT HATE THE BLACKS
BLACKS AGAINST JEWS, BROTHER AGAINST BROTHER
AND THEY'RE ALL TOO BLIND TO SEE

AS THE RICH GET RICHER, THE POOR GOIN' HUNGRY
I'VE SEEN THE TOLL IT TAKES ON THE WORKINGMAN'S FAMILY
EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT'S OBSOLETE
CAN'T HOLD A KID'S INTEREST OR KEEP 'EM OFF THE STREET
SEE A FATHER'S FEAR, HEAR A MOTHER'S CRY
WHAT KIND OF NATION LETS THEIR CHILDREN DIE
GOVERNEMENT'S CORRUPT AND FULL OF RED TAPE
THEN YOU'RE GONNA ASK ME WHY I HATE

WHY DON'T YOU OPEN UP YOUR EYES SO YOU CAN SEE
OPEN UP YOUR EARS SO YOU CAN HEAR
TAKE A LOOK AROUND AND YOU WILL FIND
TAKE A LOOK AROUND AND YOU WILL FIND OUT WHY!!
