Can any one help with this problem. A friend of mine owns this head hunter mag. For some reason the expantion chamber/regulator is giving him problems. Is there any one out there that knows how this marker works? The chamber you see is made by air america. When you feed the marker straight from source there is severe drop off after the first shot.

This is a real nightmare.
What the problem is, is that when you gas the mag up through the reg, it will allways blow the O-ring. but when you put the feed straight to the valve there is real bad drop off.

try the gun without that air america reg, mags don't need more regs on them it just starves them for air. correct me if i'm wrong.

That is true. A second reg will only starve the valve. That is what is causing the drop off. The internal reg on the mag is already extremely good. There is no need for a secondary one.

like they said. but if your using co2, another reg still wouldn't be the answer.

hes got two mags on that thing. and i thought my mag was heavy! well anyways, for an idea on how to figure out the problem. find out what the length of the trigger rod is from the tip to the edge of the clevis pin. should be 1.990" just so you know. By the way that is a crazy mag!

Bizarre setup - it looks like the secondary reg is similar to the original Air America HPA regs (back half) but with the top half replaced with some kind of expansion chamber.

If your friend is running air, I'd try and ditch the entire secondary reg and focus on what's causing the drop off with the A.I.R valve. I'd probably junk the microline as step one - macro or braided hose will allow more flow to the valve.

one thing is that the airamerica and automag regs are extremely similar so your friend may have replaced some of the parts of the mag with the other ger parts.

check into that.

Just out of curiosity, what is a Headhunter mag? I've never seen mag look like that before.

well i know its a micromag with a different milling pattern but from there i have no idea.

currently on co2 but that will be changed soon. The problem is opposite of what you guys are saying, When the CO2 is put through the reg all the Orings blow and the one inside the AIR America reg blow out the small hole at the bottom half as well as the Orings in the microline elbows. When CO2 is fed direct into the actual valve at the back there is only enough pressure to cycle the bolt every 10 seconds or so.

But i think the idea now is to get a complete air settup and ditch the reg as no1 can find out why or how this thing will aid the marker.

Keep you all posted on how that goes.
