I have about 400 bucks to spend on a computer. My own comptuer finally. No stupid brothers d/l spyware and all kinds of viruses. And a game comp for my room.

I already have a cheap geforce 3 ti something something (:p) and so far the beat thing I have found is a remanufactured gateway, 40 gig hd, 17 inch monitor, P4 processor, and all the needed acces.(mouse speakers keyboard etc.) for about $419.

I have 400 to spend, give or take 20 bucks.

Thanks for any help

Almost all manufactured computers come with a POS video card.

It all depends on how fast you're looking at.

If you want to make a better computer, the best way is to just do it yourself. Seeing as your funds are sort of "limited" your computer is prolly gonna suck for most games, but oh well. You could put a KT3 Ultra 2 motherboard in there ($120?), has usb 2 ports.....then on top of that you could chuck a AMD Athlon XP 2000+ ($100-130?), and then with like the $180 you got left...you could buy some small crumby HDD or take one of your friends, then buy a $50 case, a soundblaster live soundcard ($50), and a piece of garbage monitor at best buy for like $100, then you've successfully spent all your money and have a somewhat decent computer (well...no speakers but o well)
