I think it be weird if he we're to be elected to governor, but it be interesting to see how he'd do. It be quite an accomplishment, and show how much star power he has. Politics wise, well I don't know what he stands for, or for that matter even what party he is (all I know is that he wants to possibly run).

I know he is republican. Thats about it. That doesn't mean much though. Not sure where he stands on any issues.

This ought to be good for some laughs.

If he loses, will he say," I'll be back!"?

How will he silence his critics?

Maybe like this:

Being the Republican that I am, I think I will vote for him. It will be funny...and I doubt he can do worse than what Davis has done.

"Listen! And understand! That Governator is out there. It can't be bargained with! It can't be reasoned with! It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead or he balances the State budget!" -Terminator 4: Election Day

I had a dream that he became president, and issued a $65 bill with his face on it. No joke.

Well it's unfortunate that everyone blames Davis for all this states problems. Even though he has tried several things to get a budget passed but the Republicans shoot it down. He was lied to just like everyone else was with the energy crisis. However if Jesse "The Body" Ventura can win Governor of Minnesota then of course Arnold is gonna win in Cali. What's next? Terry "Hulk" Hogan running for president of the USA? This recall has turned into the biggest joke. Even Larry Flyntt (publisher of Penthouse) is running along with a couple Porn stars. This is just turning worse with Arnold stepping in.

while i agree that Davis is doing a horrible job...

i dont think a Actor ... who mind you become an actor because he was increably strong ( he still is )... and has no history in law politics or anything to do with running a whole darn state should run for governor. this whole thing has turned in a such a laughing riot. porn stars , actors .... whats next .

i can hardly stand our states politics.
its so sad

I was hoping that Arnold would throw his hat in the ring, and he did. This basically sounds the death knell for Davis, and it couldn't happen to a more worthless politician. Davis has gone out of his way to destroy California. Business are leaving, people are leaving, and the State faces massive shortfalls. California is one of the 10 largest economies in the world and it is faltering badly.

Arnold is a Republican but he's more liberal leaning on social issues and conservative leaning on fiscal policy. He will probably be a good fit for California. California is a pretty leftward state, but I think most of that is social policy which Arnold will likely be pretty accomadating to that. And although Californians on average are not fiscal conservatives it may be a good idea to employ a little of that for the time being.

Arnold actually does have a (brief) history in politics. He has campaigned with Republican candidates in the past (usuall more liberal ones like Riordan) and lobbied extensivly for a recent prop for after school athletics and activities for kids. Although he has no pratical experience governing he does have some experience in politics.

As for everyone else running for Governor, it's getting nuts (which is bad for Davis, the more candidates the more his vote is splintered). Huffington is in the race, Flynt, and the deputy governor. Also the GOP is fielding a ton of candidates like Simon (again) and some more. Very interesting.

I'll say one thing though, the threshold to recall is too low. You only need signatures equal to 10% of the number of people that voted in last years election. That's only about 1% of the state. A very low threshold if you ask me.

Everyone keeps bringing up the state budget crisis as the primary reason showing that Davis is doing a bad job. Sheesh.....about 46 states have had a state budget crisis this year. Oregon is still trying to clear up the mess. I believe Jeb Bush has a budget crisis.

Jobs and companies leaving the state? Like that isn't happening all up and down the west coast! We are in a national recession people! It seems to me that changing the administration right now can only be worse for the people of California. It isn't like he was caught in some major corruption scandal. Of course I'm just an Oregonian so it is none of my business.

Actually I think Arnold might make a good governor but let him run in the regular election. The economy of California would get a small bump from the national press all staying in hotels in Sacramento to report the story of Arnold as Governor. Ventura was so entertaining as a governor. The guy would comment on anything! He wasn't like the typical politician that had to form a committee on every single issue. It ended up backfiring on him in the end but it was a good run while it lasted.

Also he will never be President. He was not born here which is one of the requirements for a President.....

I don't believe the budget crisis is the main issue. I think it was his energy policy of the past couple years which caused more losses in the budget.

Yeah, and? What, just because the bulk of states are having problems it's ok? Davis's mismanagement of the energy crisis is a major part of California's budget problems.

It is possible that an administration change will do no good, but it's also very possible (and I think likely) that it will.

Actually I think Arnold might make a good governor but let him run in the regular election. The recall is kind of weird, especially with the low threshold that California has. I'm not too fond of how easy it is to recall the governor. I support the concept, but it should be harder to do.

Also he will never be President. He was not born here which is one of the requirements for a President.....

That could be admended, but I doubt it will be, and frankly hope it isn't.

PS, I wrote a column about the Recall, you can see it by clicking the link in my sig

I hate to close this, as I am a big Bill Simon supporter (Arnold has no business in this level of politics yet).

But, rules be rules.
