View Full Version : Empire Intimidator....

I will be shooting this at the PSP Philly in X-ball with Ignition :D

This is a PROTOTYPE gun. Not sure if the parts on here will be on the final version, this is one of about 5 guns that Bob made in time to show for PSP Philly.

It's got some prototype stuff on it from the new timmy gun like the gripframe and front reg mount etc. As yet they aren't sure what eye covers or regs will be used on production guns.

The Empire logo is 3D and machined all the way through the body so there are gaps right through and you can see a lot of the ram tube. It's light! Currently about 2oz lighter than the Lasoya.

I put my bolt and ram cap on it. They are not stock items.

DAMN that looks nice
couple of questions (if you can spill the beans)
anything different internally in the front reg housing?
did you have to shorten the bolt or lengthen the bolt pin?
did anything change in the grip other than the looks (looks like snatch is part of it, no LCD and the grip is farther forward than the old style clams)?

and one more DAMN for good measures

might wanna try the o-ring trick on your tank to get the fill nipple out of the way of your palm

>anything different internally in the front reg housing?

Yes. That's not the new front reg cap. More to come in that area ;)

>did you have to shorten the bolt or lengthen the bolt pin?

Nope.

>did anything change in the grip other than the looks (looks like snatch is part of it, no LCD and the grip is farther forward than the old style clams)?

Yes. There is to be an LCD. This is a prtotype gun and it's not all finished yet.

>and one more DAMN for good measures

:D

>might wanna try the o-ring trick on your tank to get the fill nipple out of the way of your palm.

Cheers, it doesn't bother me in play but I might try that anyway.

Ok, Bob officially has a second good looking Timmy now (I only liked the GZs before). I just wish they'd loose the palm swell on the clammy, IMO it would flow with the gun much better. I also love how they moved the reg and the grip frame closer together, it must eliminate that horrible "long" feeling they had.

Not this time. They redesigned the reg housing and have a totally new grip frame that'll change the balance of your gun (and is also not as tall). Not to mention the new internals that manike mentioned (like JT2002 said).

So no, not just the same Timmy with a new milling pattern. This one will perform differently also.

I've had more problems with my flatline than either of my torpedos. True there are better regs out there, but for a stock reg, they kick the crap out of an angel or worr reg.

I was baseing my previous post on more of a looks basis, than anything else. I mean honestly every timmy ever made has the same torpedo reg. If i was paying the $1600 for the shocktech timmy, or whatever the price of this thing is. I would want something that looked a little different than what comes on every other one.

As much as you don't believe that the Torpedo reg is not better than the Angel mini reg, how can you say the same for the opposite? (i.e. Angel mini ref better than the torpedo reg)

Do you have test results with direct comparisons between the two regs supporting your statement?

...Or are you just as biased in your belief for the Angel mini reg as wyn1370 is for the Torpedo?

All I know is that my torpedo is incredibly consistant and flows really fast. Basically a palmer stabilizer with different milling (i think....)....angel mini-regs are decent, but not nearly as nice as a torpedo. There's a reason you see torps on every timmy--the same reason you see sidewinders on all vikings....there's no reason to replace either, they're both awesome regs.

no the reason you see sidewnders on vikings is because AKA makes the sidewinder and its cheeper to do.

Now the side winder is considered one of the best aftermarket regs, its right up there with the stab. if aka didnt make the side winder, i garauntee there would be somthing else on there.

IF the torp is so good, why isnt it on more trixes? cockers? and other high end guns alike?

the bob long reg is good, but there are better regs out there, and i agree, if i pay that much for a gun, i want a better working, nicer looking reg.

Angry Man
08-14-2003, 07:13 PM
That's what I'm saying....the sidewinder is the stock viking reg, and no one replaces it, just as no one replaces the torp because it's a great reg.

Angry Man
08-14-2003, 07:17 PM
Also, my torp doesn't shoot down, gets me +/-4 at the chrono usually (+/-0.5 last time) and runs co2 fine. The torp is basically a stabilizer with different milling...that's why no one replaces it.

Marek
08-14-2003, 10:43 PM
Have there been any tests concerning the Torpedo reg? I am curious as well how consistent it is. It always served me well, and was cheaper than most of the other regs.

Angry Man
08-15-2003, 09:46 PM
The mini-reg and the angel are another story. The ASA coming out of the angel has metric threads so no reg other than the mini-reg will work. To replace it, you also have to replace the ASA itself, which is just more trouble and expense than it's worth. Beyond this, angels come in colors that are very hard to match, meaning that any angel with a different reg and ASA with have an unmatched reg and ASA...not great. With intimidators, the accesories are always either chrome or black (the two easiest colors to match), so it's easy to find another matching reg, yet almost no one chooses to do so. Vikings, too, are usually black, so someone could find a matching reg without much trouble, yet no one wants to replace a reg as good as the sidewinder.

Oh, and I've seen a couple pics of angels with gladiators, etc....despite the fact that changing a reg on an angel means changing the ASA too, some people see the mini-reg as such a piece of junk that they choose to replace it despite the trouble.

Oh, and the empire is allegedly very similar to a standard timmy with some of the 2k4 improvements...the 2k4 is almost totally rebuilt, but is still an intimidator and compatible with most intimidator parts.

Ummmmmmm, new reg housing and a grip frame that's pushed forward. That's all I see different in both pictures and what Manike mentioned. I must've missed it in his posts, but I read all of them and I didn't see anything about new internals to the marker.

Perform different? Poppet valve with a stacked tube pneumatic-hammer/bolt connection. Perform different? I'm not seeing much of anything special about this. Sure it looks amazing, and I bet that the grip frame pushed up makes it pleanty shorter and a good balance. But besides that..... looking like just your every other Intimidator to me.

Until I see just how different, if they even are different, the internals are (not a REG housing, but actual internals) I'm sort of let down. All the hype about this for the past month about it being shorter and lighter and such. They just cut off a back chunk of body and pushed the grip frame forward. I was expecting something truely different.

But for the game on hand you're using it in Manike, good luck to you. Hopefully it performs top-notch and doesn't show the 'prototype' side! :) Have fun in Philly, and as already said if coming to Shatnerball I'll see you there.

Yes, these changes may make it perform better. No one said "function" differently, just perform. Remember people, this is still an Intimidator, so therefore it's still going to work like an Intimidator. I don't go around whining about the X-Mag because it's still a blowforward design.

It can't fire any faster, and a reg housing isn't going to make it more consistent.

Perform better?

Yeah right! Until I shoot it myself and get amazed at it's sheer speciality..... it's just another Timmy to me.

Angry Man
08-16-2003, 11:44 PM
The new reg housing will make it have less drop off and will allow the lpr to be set lower (the old single reg housing had the world's worst flow rate...two TINY little holes). The old single reg housing was also prone to spiking because of its somewhat convoluted design, as well. The new frame really will allow for a tighter and more balanced set up and the new reg housing will (hopefully) flow better and have a better design meaning lower lpr pressure, no spikes, and less drop off at high rates of fire.

Is this enough to justify buying a new timmy over an older one? Of course not, but it's a reason to buy this gun over an older timmy given the option of buying either.

Hopefully the 2k4 will have more changes, however, but the 2k2 isn't that different from a classic and it really took off, so small changes can make a big difference.

cool, no wonder theres noone on the pre order list, lol. but manike, do you know if theyre even going to continue to use that new reg housing? because on that site it looks like theyre going whith the old single regs like on all the other timmys. and dont get me wrong, that is a very sweet gun. heh, now i dont know about this or xmag

The reg on that gun is not how the finished gun will be. That was a prototype for Philly, and it didn't have all the finished parts on it.

It will have a new front reg and housing.

Are you kidding?

It is his custom X-Mag body, the Manike Mag. Simon (Manike) designed/created the X-Mag(the bodies at least).

I've seen them in quite a few colours, but I'm not sure about that combo. I saw an orange one and a pink one though... :D

I expect it will be a colour combo though as most timmies have been available in this combo.
