***UPDATE***
***9/29/03***

-Plexiglass sheild now in place
-AGD Logo in place
-Anti-Smart parts mini flag in place
-Remote Control Working
-Battery Charger Found
-Electronics Sealed off

Only thing that is keeping this project form being completed is the landmine. Paintball combat is taking longer than i expected.

lol thats awesome dude, but what if it gets shot?
You could probally make something out of plastic to protect the electronics, I dunno though.

08-16-2003, 11:24 AM
they used to make plstic covers for the revievers of rc cars so you dont spill nitro all in them, check tower hobbies or you can go the cheap way and put the reciever in a balloon and then wire tie the end shut and a put a dab of sillicone caulk in there

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
08-16-2003, 01:14 PM
i don't really care if it gets shot. i got mini rubber tires protecting the front and back and soem pieces of cardboard will be added onto that

it looks like there is only 4 ways for the paint to get to the electronics. so i will electrical tape the holes off and probably put a plastic covering over that.

Or I would just kind of pick it up and turn it over and laugh at it :p

yea i was thinking of one of those remote control mines only they cost $100

but i might do that later if this project works.

and the mine on that link is pretty expensive. i see those retail for $50. i think a standard mine will do fine.

this is where the mine will most likely be.
sitting in the front so we won't have to extend the detonator.

unless i am going to get a master mine. I heard those things can be remote detonated but i am still awaiting a response from action village.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER

ok i looked everywhere for the perfect mine
i emailed several places.

rustyspaintballgear.com has the only remote control landmine but it is $300

paintballcombat.net has landmines but they are pressure detonated

pbgear.com has the mastermine and i am awaiting a reply from their costumer support team to see if the mine is remote detonated as it said in their description.

i emailed paintballcombat.net asking for the length and width of their small landmine and their mastermine.

i seached automag forums for people selling landmines

i searched at pbnation.com and pbreview.com

i went to ebay.com to look for landmines.

888paintball, paintballwizard, paintballdiscount, doropaintball, cops911, everywhere!

and i can only find 1 remote control detonated paintball mine!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HHHHHH!

ok ladies and gentlemen,

our choices for mines are:

Paintballcombat's mini mine - $20.00
Paintballcombat's small mine - $19.99
Rustyspaintballgear remote control mine - $300
MajorPaintball's MasterMine - $35

use a servo to detonate some home made co2 powered mines. you could probably mount 2 small ones front and back. It would be pretty awesome but I think you may need to do some work on the suspension

explain to me what a servo is

Big'n slo
08-20-2003, 07:44 AM
A servo is a small radio controlled motor usually with an "arm" atached to manipulate another object. The steering sysem in your RC car uses a servo to turn the wheels.

harpo568

if you are interested I have a couple of home made mines I'll be happy to give to you if you will cover the cost of shipping.
shouldn't be more than about $5.00.
these are pressure activated
BUT!!!
one of my teammates modified one so that it works with a tripwire and has a pulll ring which you could link a servo to to detonate it.
runs on a 12 gram CO2.

nah. in a couple of months paintball combat will be testing their new remote control mine design. and if that is cheap enough i will purchase it. but right now i'm thinking of using a mastermine but actionvillage doesn't have them in stock and it costs $50 at paintball combat and major paintball.

harpo568
08-21-2003, 08:30 PM
okay
if you are looking for a master mine get out your trusty copy of APG look in the field store directory find D&M sports in Sullivan Il and give them a call (ask for Greg)...I know he had them for around $35.00 a while back.
and tell him Richard from Level X suggested you call them.

the_next_guy_
08-21-2003, 10:24 PM
get a wireless doorbell. When you hit the button it sends an impulse to ring the bell. You could just rewire it to move a servo or something. That would be alot cheaper than $100.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER

people...POST ON THIS THREAD! NOT MINI TANK THREAD!

and no i don't plan on equiping a gun to the r/c car. servo idea i'll look into but paintball combat is develouping a paintball landmine that will be out in a few months. So while i wait i will try using servos...if i can find one that is. Then i gotta buy an antenna for my remote controller. so far all i got is a long *** piece of aluminum foil on a metal stick as a remote controller.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
08-30-2003, 09:34 PM
this is my current ideas. I will have a plexiglass sheild protecting the front of the car (well...cardboard if i can't afford the plexiglass). on the car i will tape down or glue down a block of wood with a flat surface to be used as a platform for the mine. On top of that i will have the remote controlled mine. If there is a spray hose i will just aim that towards the front.

So i will get to work on making this look more profesionnal while i wait for paintball combat's remote controlled landmine to come out.

SpongeBobSquarePants
08-31-2003, 05:20 PM
Hate to burst your bubble, but this WILL NOT WORK. Your makeing it a point to use that R/C Car rite? Thats like a cheap toy r us type car. I'm not saying its a bad car, but not even my nitro powered traxxus truck can handle the job your asking for (sorry I'm blanking on the name of the truck) throw the body on the car, then get a good sized mag lite. Usually about the same weight as a land mine. Duct tape it to it and see how slow it is. I weigh 300 pounds but I can run faster then that.

The only way you could get this to work is to build a car from scratch, seeing as you don't know what a servo is/does that is out of the picture.

Also, you have to look at the distance the radio signal will reach, which would probably be with in veiw point of you the guy with the radio, and at that point they would proabably open up on you.

Good idea, but not very likly. Sorry.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER

...1 second

big pack of CD-Rs. (100)

...SH.IT! gosh darnit!..o wait the r/c car was turned off =P

1 second...

well...it works fine to me with a stack of 100 CD-Rs on it. lemme put the stack on a scale to see how much it weighs...

well since my bro is hoggin the bathroom i gotta wait. but i can tell you this. the stack of CDs was a lot heavier than a mag-lite and is heavier than the r/c car itself.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
09-01-2003, 01:37 AM
ok since this electronic scale needs 10 pounds to activate it. i had to push the disks down on the scale adding around 3 - 4 pounds on the CDs. so i assume that stack was over 5 pounds.

this isn't one of those CHEAP CHEAP toys are us cars. they were made a looooong time ago when it was quality work.

i tested the range and it was pretty decent. looking at the field i will use this on (Hyperball at Badlandz) the range of this car is plenty to get to a bunker on the other side.

build a car from scratch??? i would say no lol.

progress as of now on Operation: Moving Bomb -
all electronics are now sealed and protected from any damage.

plexiglass will be looked into tomarrow at my local glass/mirror shop.

wood platform is no problem since there is a stack of cut wood on my driveway from remodeling my kitchen. (nice thin piece of plywood should do it)

for the mine...i contacted paintball combat. they are in the designing stage and semi testing stage right now.

personman

You can pick up some plexiglass at home depot or lowes, or whatever you prefer. I suggest putting some plexiglass on the sides too. Maybe if you had a solenoid, a ram and a LPR along with say a 12 gram, and you hooked it up to the antenna of the RC car or something maybe you could make an extra button in the remote control :P
Also the best way to masuer wieght on a scale is to step on the scale while holding the cds then step on the scale without holding anything and subtract

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
09-01-2003, 02:06 PM
good idea. there is a place near here that sell solenoids. i'm gonna go check em out

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
09-17-2003, 10:15 PM
ok peoples slight change of plans. since the tires are in the way of mounting the plexiglass sheild at an angle. i will just use the plexiglass sheild as the platform for the mine. in this way it protects the car and holds the landmine. and i will have small mini tires to protect the mine.

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER

well first you need something rotating (like the disk in a microwave) then you need something that can go up and down. (like a remote controlled ramp or something). and you need to somehow get that arm to be strong enough to support an entire gun and a 10rd tube (use a remote for the co2 and your not gonna get that many shots off with that thing so just use a 10rd tube). and then that's it! good luck.

for me it's just. put a landmine on car. push button *KABLAMMY!*

ramenjames
11-18-2003, 06:21 PM
well what i think im gonna do it get a motor with a little "stick" on it to pull the trigger and then get a motor to move it up and down ( or mabey phunmatics?) the car can aim it
but i was planing on a remot to 9 oz and using a 10 rn tube:D

If you're lookiing for stuff to add to it, well...
In many of my projects I have wanted to add cameras. I have an X10 which works pretty well, but they make tiny little 9v powered cameras you can get off Ebay for like 40-50 bucks I think. You could hook the receiver (make sure it's battery powered also) to a small camcorder, then boom! It's got a sight on it!

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER
11-25-2003, 05:28 PM
i actually thought of that but having a camera next to a paintball landmine isnt gonna work too well. plus i don't really need a site when i have a 30ft blast radius.

ok...it seems as if paintball combat is taking too long. i did have some hope fomr a friend in cleveland but i got

Quote: "The team sais in order for you to get the mine you have to give everyone *fill in the blank* and you have to *fill in the blank* the girls and suck their *fill in the blank*"

Which i definately won't do.

So i'm open to the servo ideas.

After some thinking it sounds rather easy. get a remote controlled arm. hook it up to the detonator. and that's it. but if it was this easy i would have done it already. so anyone with experiance on this stuff...please...help!

ehy not use a servo to pull the pin out, They don't cost much. But you may have to buy a new reciever and change the crystals over, it's not hard and shouldnt cost much.

mikebridge
04-02-2004, 11:48 AM
you could also snag some 'L' or corner brackets from a hardware store, affix those around the edges of the existing plexi, and put more plexi down on the sides to protect the wheels, electronics, etc, and perhaps move sponsor stickers there, so they don't get gooped when the mine goes off...

SuiciDal Sn Y p ER

i need to buy a servo (arm that like....moves when you push a button)

this servo is gonna have to be pretty strong...

if you look around you can find a 3channel radio gear for around $70.00 brand new. then all you need to do is mount one servo for the steering, one servo for the speed control ( depending if it is servo controlled ) and one servo at a random place under the perspex. Then connect them up to the new 3 channel reciever and away you go.

this shop may have something right for you
