i was searching here on AO(i forget for what) when a found this thread and i was thinking of a way AGD could make an electronic gun that uses a smaller solenoid and battery(i know about the whole SP thing and what the ULT was for, but we all know SP won't win:) so basically my idea is to:
get rid of the entire sear assembly and then redesign the on/off so that if there is pressure in the gun it will be in the off position, then get a smaller solenoid that will be used to open the on/off for the right amount of time(i think it's 30ms from what i read in the other thread) this way you wouldn't need to latch the bolt or anything, just open and close the on/off.
the firing cycle would look like this:
1-on/off-off
2-pull trigger
3-solenoid opens, on/off-open(or on)
4-stays open for the dwell time you've set it at
5-on/off-off
with this idea it could be possible to make the mag more efficient and you wouln't need the big battery and solenoid(although i do like the looks of battery packs as they are) this could make for an incredibly light/small mag(not that they arn't small right now).
i just want to know if the is possible or not and your opinion of it(including tom), if i had the money i would by an rtpro and try this idea right now, i'm not sure about the on/off being redesigned but i don't think it would be that hard.
