This can be a discussion of both the show "The Wire", and the videos above, which are the main reason I started this thread.

I had a strange reaction to this show. My roommate raved about it, and owns the first couple seasons, so I decided I'd check out an episode a two a couple weeks ago. So the first night, I watched the first one, then watched a couple more, and went to bed. The next day I did the same thing. I couldn't put my finger on any one thing about the show I really liked, I just kind of wanted to see what happened.

Then the last four episodes or so sealed the deal for me. Pulled everything together perfectly, and really made me go "wow." I'm really looking forward to watching the rest when I get some free time.

For now, on the lighter side of things, it's an episode of Burn Notice here and there.

That's the way it is set up. The early episodes set up the later ones. Instead of most shows that have a story arc for each episode, the wire goes a a season long story arc. So if you watch just one episode and blow it off, you're not getting the full effect.

that is great.....could be applied to vegans too.

edit: anyone have any thoughts on the clips??? I think hes wrong in thinking that rich, secluded communities will survive. Rich people's only advantage is that they money, but if society fails(like he thinks it will) then money has no value, so rich people have no added value over anyone else. What are rich people supposed to pay people to build their secluded protected areas with if money has no value?

I saw a video where David Simon explained why each of the seasons' topics was selected. I'll try to find it for you.
