    Official Shatnerball 06 Thread

    ALL!

Yes its OFFICIAL! We will be going to play paintball with Billy at Jungle Island south of Corona CA on SEPT 17th this year! We will be using all of Jungle Islands vehicles with working paintball guns during the game and the final battle promises to be unbelievable!

Normally California fields are bring your own paint but that doesn't work out for making money for a charity. We are still trying to figure out if we should offer a case with registration or something different. This is still up in the air so your comments are welcome.

We are also going to invite other big name celebrities since its so close to Hollywood. Don't know for sure yet but we have some fun people on the invite list.

We are in the middle of updating the website and this announcement leaked out a little too early so please hang with us while we get up to speed. Please do all the coordinating and post hotel info etc here.

How far is Corona from the paintball park? Will everyone be staying there?

Well if I can make the time (and set aside the money) the wife and I hope to be there.

Man, and I thought a 12 hour drive to Joliet was long.

Anyone know the best way to fly one's gear out there? I know my brother flew to Florida once and checked all his gear and depressuried his tanks but that was pre-9/11.

The actual city of Corona is 10-15 minutes North of Jungle Island. Jungle Island sits on the border of unicorporated Corona and Lake Elsinore. Here are the Google Earth co-ordinates for ya. 33 43'45.45" N 117 24'19.44"W.

Tom, I wouldn't worry about the BYOP issue. Jungle Island has been hosting FPO scenarios there for several years.

Pirate Gent, If you fly your paintball guns out theyhave to be in a locked case and declared. TSA has to be able to open the case. Any tanks that go on the plane have to have their regulator removed for visual inspection of the tank. I would suggest UPS or FedEx.

I have heard the "UPS/FedEx" idea offered before. Not sure how I feel about it. I know back in 2004 when the jerseys were sent out the arrived at my house 5 hours AFTER I left for Joliet (12 drive) - luckly the wife was home (with our 3 month old) and was able to re-ship with guarnteed Saturday delivery for the Game on Sunday!!

I would hate for there to be a problem with UPS/FEDEX and arrival/ship times causing me to miss them and having to resort to rentals.

Guess my best bet is to make friends with TSA and make sure all my i's are dotted and my t's crossed.

(Cause I know I AIN'T going to drive coast to coast!)

Looks like I'm gonna give a couple of my buddies a call to see if they are game for this.
(It also helps knowing someone who works for fedex)
Maybe PMI, crossfire or guerilla air could do a tank rental for the event.

I fly with my paintball gear at least twice a year…
Just put the guns and all in checked baggage, and have your regulator so that you can unscrew it. You have to take the tank as a carry on item, and the TSA folks will check it at the metal detectors. It helps if you tell them what you have FIRST, instead of letting them see a bomb shaped tank on the x-ray. As poorly informed as TSA people are, all of the ones I have encountered know what to do with paintball stuff.

And just to be safe, I print this out and have it on top of everything when an inspector would open my checked bags…

From a guy who was not online for the past shatnerball events…
I was wondering, as much as this seems like a huge AO party… Who else will show up, it’s not an AO exclusive thing is it?

Any other background would be helpful. I’m sure others who haven’t been around a while would also appreciate the info.

I've got a buddy who is pretty tight with Linkin Park. I know they've played before. I can probably have him mention it to them to see if they'd be interested.

As much as I respect the man himself - Tom has only won one out of three games..... so let's not talk about who kicked who's behind.

(of course I can say in 2004 fighting from the river bed outside of the F-Troop fort that was Shatner's HQ was a hairy fight. I turned to my friend and asked the time. Figured it had to be an hour or two - because the fight was tough. We weren't gaining any ground and paint came from everywhere. My friend said " the game as only been going for 15 mintues" - I knew it was going to be a LONG DAY after that)
