    Barrel Size Curiosity Question

Simon manufactures 0.675, 0.680, 0.685. and 0.690 barrel backs so I'm assuming those are the most typically used sizes these days, I'm curious what you guys typically use?

The question is what size or sizes do you use regularly?

For years it's been .685 or .690 depending on the paint.

I play 1-2 times a month. once being our local pump group which has a deal that we get 3-star level paint with entry. so depending on what is in stock.... it can change a good bit.

i could care less if the size changes, the problem is that it isnt round. its like im trying to size paint to footballs, and be competitive at the same time.

Its the number 1 reason i carry 2 full freak kits to the field with me everytime i go.

If i was shooting a mech that doesn't require paint match. id be shooting a .689 ul or stella with a large back or insert.

I’ve been using G.I. Custom that Hell Survivors in MI sells. I’ve had the best luck with .687 and .689 a box my friend bought on one of trips did well with .685. Apparently the G.I. Custom they sell is equivalent to G.I. 3 Star. I haven’t tried their premium fireball yet, I plan to though.

I also bought some valken graffiti from a local pro shop and it did well in a .685 insert.

Don' ask questions. It is considered "trolling" in some locations.

Are you looking to get into barrels? If so I would love to give my .02

The way 2pc barrels go together is important if you have a ball break in the barrel. The old scepter barrels circa 2000 and Titanium longbow barrels both got this right. I can send you a titanium longbow barrel for you to look at or i can text you pictures. I know I had photobucket pictures somewhere, but believe they are more than likely gone when they changed their free hosting to paid hosting.

Those barrels preform better than others when something gets in your barrel. They also clean out better than others.

I like to overbore with my mags, .687 is prolly my happy place with .685 and .689 being interchanged based on what build I'm using/paint size/weather

This is my problem too. I just shoot 0.693 or 0.695 on all my guns.

Using oversized barrels, l can shoot anything without breaking a ball. You really don't give up much accuracy. You actually gain consistency over a proper sized barrel when you have to shoot inconsistent paint. My favorite barrels were Equation multi-switch barrels. They were light, quiet, and efficient all in one package. And, you could change the vented front extension tube, and the tip, and it came with stainless inserts.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

I used 0.684 most of the day at Reaperball. I tried the one that is the next smaller but that didnt go so well.

Generally it has been those two for the last couple years.

I use between .684 to .689. With the .689 I get a few roll outs but like athomas stated my consistency seems to be better.
