i almost forgot what we were originally talking about on this. Oh yeah I was wondering has anyone used SOS pads to keep their 'Mag nice and shiny after polishing it? My gearhead hotrod loving friend says that they are reallly good on stainless Magwheels just wondering

mag wheels are usually alloid with all sorts of stuff including magnesium and aluminum. The automag body is almost pure stainless steel. I wouldn't count on the sos pads to work. Use that mothers polish a thin coat works itself into the metall and will keep the shiine for a long time. fact is though the more you handle a mag the sooner it will start to oxidize. NO metall is 100% rustproof.

Aluminum doest rust - but it can corrode - leaving a white substance on the surface - thats why you anodize your guns.

Old pepsi cans used to be steel (and beer cans etc) so they would rust over time...

Yeppers... iron (which is in steel) is needed for 'rust'.

Yes, steel will rust. However, STAINLESS steel is an alloy with some other metals (I think nickel and/or chrome are the main ones) that resists rusting, and doesn't create that obvious red/brown rust. It does oxidize, however. All metals and alloys will corrode to some extent. Stainless steel is good because it oxidizes very little, and produces a rust that isn't very noticeable (shades of gray instead of red/brown). To get rid of the rust, simply use a little silver polish on a rag and rub it away. And if ya wanna keep the polished look with a little less maintenance, try a coat of acrylic. Go to your nearest Wal-Mart and pick up a bottle of Future floor polish. Dampen a rag with it, undiluted, and rub it over the OUTSIDE of your body. Don't dip the body in the stuff, or it may cause problems (like a very durable layer of acrylic caked in peg grooves and changing other tolerances in the gun). This stuff will make the finish last much longer.
