BTW: The grey on your body isn't paint. The body is bead blasted to achieve that texture.

And aluminum oxidizes very quickly. I'm talking seconds. The oxodizing layer is clear and protects the rest of the part from oxidation like an outer shell. The layer is a few microns thick. Thats why you don't see rusted aluminum.

What motions do you use to polish the main body? Wrap the paper around the body and twist or a side to side motion. Please let me know. Thanks

I too have given in and started sanding yesterday. I went by the local auto parts store, picked up some 1000 and 2000 and then to Home Depot and picked up some 320, 400, and 800. I started with the 320 and took off most of the gray material with that and it really started shining today when is started with the 1000 and 2000 and finally the Mothers. All together it took about 3 and a half hours of serious sanding, most of it underneath a faucet. Its very shiny although not a total chrome finish (I wasnt expecting it to be). It's just a little grayer/duller than the valve behind it, but it still looks good. Everybody else post their results cuz im curious if you can actually get it chromer if you put more time into it.

Can you also polish your base rail to a nice shine so it matches your mainbody?

Some people like the look of polished (if you can call it that) aluminum, but polishing it, at best, would give you a frosted metal look, which won't go well with the mirror-shiny body. I'd invest in a chrome body rail if you want the all-chrome look.

And now, I've seen a mag that could only be described as the "mirror 'Mag". Here's what the guy had on it:

Minimag, polished to mirror-shinyness and lacquered to protect it
    Dye 12" SS barrel
    Dye chrome trigger frame
    Chrome body rail
Custom chrome powerfeed plug (he said a guy at the pro shop does that kind of milling)
    Clear Sticky grips
    Chrome foregrip
nickel-plated fittings and stainless hose (macroline don't come in clear)

You could see the glare off this guy's mag for miles. We played in the woods a couple of games, and he tried to hide in a thick layer of leaves. Almost worked, except that we could see a part of his mirror mag long before he could see us.
