wanna see what happens to a full parking lot when it turns into a full harbor?(flood)

tropical depression gaston (sp?) stalled out over richmond monday and dumped around 14" of rain in about 5hours time. the following images are some pics of the aftermath from the 10' high flood waters that rocked the shocho bottom, a historic section of downtown richmond. last i heard 5 people died, several were still missing and thousands of cars are gone, along with numerous sections of roads and bridges from sink holes. Hundreds of people had to take shelter in the upper levels of some buildings.

notice the debris about the audi on the telephone pole, gives you an idea how high the water was

if you look very closely on top of the mini towards the back you can see some slight red marks, that is two tomatoes that floated from the out doors farmers market 2 blocks away. there were a couple reports of produce floating around during the flood.

now, on to pics of my car

    black neon on right

neon on left, my car was originally parked on the other side of that cement support beam.

was a brand new wind shield 2 months ago

and this is a section of road near my house, the bridge is still entact, but the road around the bridge is another story. the water was 2' above the bridge at its highest point.

    Holy crap dude, that sucks

Hope your insurance picks up the bill on that one.

Did your car drive home or did you get it towed? I would doubt it would start but it woulda been kinda funny if it did :)

Dude, that sucks majorly. Hope the car gets replaced by your insurance and you aren't out anything. Also, it's good to see you weren't one of the missing or dead.

there is no way that my car would have started. so yeah it was towed home. however, when all the rain really started, i went down to see if i would be able to move my car, but i was too late. the lot i was in was flooded, and water was up to my door handles, so all i could do was leave it and hope it didn't get worse....but it clearly it got a lot worse.

when i got down to it the water had fried the electrical system and my tail lights had turned on

                a neon R/T huh?
those are hard to find. a friend of mine has one and its the only one i've ever seen in person.

2.2 with a 5 speed, why doesn't your's have the stripes on it though, it should have silver stripes on it i think, they only made them in like 4 color combinations.

Stupid storm. I feel for you. On the plus side you know what to do if there is a storm coming you way again.

Wow man, that sucks. How deep did the water actually get? Here in Pittsburgh there have only been a few bad floods. And luckally I was not involved in any of them.

BTW, don't listen to Lord, he is just jealous.

                        um, 9-10' i think...but not 100% sure on that

                        agreed!!!!

i loved my car, i knew it wasn't the best in the world....but when i was looking for a new inexpensive car a few years back, it was the best pound for pound. I normally am a chevy guy, but i hate the cavalier, hate fords in general and the focus especially. but this neon was sporty, fast and a five speed. it was a super car for the $$$, but oh well
