tropical depression gaston (sp?) stalled out over richmond monday and dumped around 14" of rain in about 5hours time. the following images are some pics of the aftermath from the 10' high flood waters that rocked the shocho bottom, a historic section of downtown richmond. last i heard 5 people died, several were still missing and thousands of cars are gone, along with numerous sections of roads and bridges from sink holes. Hundreds of people had to take shelter in the upper levels of some buildings.

notice the debris about the audi on the telephone pole, gives you an idea how high the water was

if you look very closely on top of the mini towards the back you can see some slight red marks, that is two tomatoes that floated from the out doors farmers market 2 blocks away. there were a couple reports of produce floating around during the flood.

now, on to pics of my car
black neon on right

neon on left, my car was originally parked on the other side of that cement support beam.

and this is a section of road near my house, the bridge is still entact, but the road around the bridge is another story. the water was 2' above the bridge at its highest point.
