    Colorado AO day 2..... ROCKED!

Heh, just got back from the CO AO day Megameet! With all of 8 people there, 5.5 shooting mags!

    We had:
    Me
    ShooterJM
    Boggerman
    Bsolomon
    Dawump
    TimBpaint
    Lighting Rift
His cousin Gabe, who doesnt post here....
    I miss anyone?

We choose to go to a "smaller" scenario game based on the Lord of the Rings in Greely Colorado. There were 100 people pre-registered for the event, but I don't know the official attendence info...

Great day, the AO crew teamed up with a scenario team by the name of "renegades" and we pretty much mopped the floor with the other team. They really should have balanced the teams better, on the other side there were like 10 summer interns from the same company, I think it was the first time playing... meanwhile we had the AO crew along with the Renegades, a guy from there by the handle Knight Owl is just amazing, in D-Day 2002 he was the "top sniper", I think he said he got over 53 barrel tips in one night... really cool guys to hang out with.

A few things could have gone better though. Personally what made my experience a little worse then it had to be was the fills. You paid 5 bucks for an air card, any tank up to a 20 oz (for co2, unsure on HPA) was 1 punch, 20+ 2 punches. I "filled" my 20 oz tank there for the final battle. Carrying 700 rounds on my back, I thought I was in for a good firefight... My hopper and one 140 rd tube was all it took before the tank ran dry. It sucked, but it was still a great day!

Other bad news was that both the E/X mags we had there went down. Boggerman's Emag simply refused to fire... not quite sure what went wrong, but he had to play the rest of the day with his Cocker backup... Then Bsolomon's X-Mag's board seemed to fry as well, but he used it the rest of the day in Manual mode with no problems... I must say, his Black-purple fade X is the most beutifal thing I've ever seen... if/when I get an X, It'll be one along the same lines of that...

But enough of my rambling, here are pictures!

    Oh, I forgot to mention...

    PRIZES!
At the game, Anthony gave away a TON of prizes... from a squeegee's to a Tippy A-5, or Longbow barrels to the grand prize... An AKA Viking! I won a Stiffy barrel there, and Bsolomon won a Black Dragun LCD... But seeing as he has an Xmag, the black Dragun really wouldn't be much use, so he did one of the coolest things I've seen in awhile, he gave it to (what looked like) a 12 year old newbie, his first time out. Great guy that Barry Solomon is...

Anyway, more pics: ShooterJM's Dragon Mag

For the final battle of the Lord of the Rings Themed event, there was a "battle of the archers"... Everyone could bring a sheild, measured by 3 feet by 3 feet, and only Torso or head shots eliminated you from the game... it got CRAZY there, 100 people, 50 feet away, DUMPING paint on the shields...

You can also tell who spent the most time on their equipment... Bsolomon, Boggerman, and Timbpaint all had Excellent shields.... Here is Barry's...

And some of the better ones... Dawump had a good idea of putting in a barrel port on his, then the clear plastic Wal-Mart storage bins means he had to expose next to nothing of himself...

          and the after pictures!

Dawump showing off the how well it worked! read that as "not very!" The final battle was the only game the Opposing team Won... and thats just because they had extra cover then just thier sheilds...

I think I'll quit on a picture of Dawump at his finest! He's on the right, and Gabe is on the left... this was at the after game dinner at Old C's... Funny story there is they stuck us in the furthest darkest corner of the restaurant, and we still managed to get two tables to get up and move... I guess it was the fatman Inflate-a-bunker idea, or the 10 hours of paintball with no showers...

I agree with the synopsis and can add some.

I really liked the field which included an irrigation ditch running the full length which you had to cross or could use to wade up the field... over 3 feet deep in places.

                    It was damn hot.

The teams WERE unbalanced. The final battle was insane and there were for sure some hot guns on opfor which didn't feel good at the range we were playing. Contrary to Kooshes summary, my "Wet Paint" shield DID work well, I was one of only two surviving players in the first round when the opposition charged.

My overall impression of the day was that I had alot of fun and really enjoyed hanging out with the AO guys again.

If I were to say anything negative it would be about safety. No barrel plugs in the staging area, removal of goggles on the field, and shooting in the staging area were no big deal... and infact it was the owners marker being test fired in the parking lot.

Only one ref in the final battle, which was close quarters and really intense, chrono was checked, but nobody verified that people entering the field had their cards stamped, and reported hot-shots went unchecked.

I even saw a REF take her goggles off on the field so she could read something! It's great that nobody was hurt, but if someone had been, there would have been many people saying "no suprise there" which would for sure mean the end of the field if the blame-game started and a law suit was filed. For sure this is something that I'll follow up about with the field owner. He is a GREAT guy, but personally I would respect him even more if he was a GREAT guy who was also a hard-*** about safety.

Thanks to Timbpaint and BSolomon for getting things setup on Friday Night... We had a key location in shade and lots of space to get organized.
