    TAnkless guns now a reality

    Wow

National Paintball Supplies released their newest Paintball Gun at the Shot Show today. Called the "Evolt" is doesn't use CO2, Nitrogen or Compressed air to propel the ball. It uses only a battery!
Other specs are; 6-7 BPS, 600 shots off a battery before needing to be recharged, battery recharges in less than 90 minutes, each battery has a lifetime of 200,000 plus shots, velocity lock, adjustable velocity from 220 fps to 300 fps, Cocker barrel threads, weight is about 5 pounds without hopper and paint,
MSRP is about $250 and they will be available for Christmas 2005.
Here are some pix I took of it and the box. I'll try to get some better pix later.

That might be the future there. I mean, all they probably need is a more efficient battery design, since I imagine the batteries take up most of the weight.

I bet the internal design is similar to Airsoft guns. Most of those are strictly battery operated, with no air source.

As I see it, the only downside to this design is the 600 shots per battery charge. Many rec players shoot only that much in a normal day, but will want more for big events. MAybe if repacement and spare batteries are not too expensive this idea might take off.

Actually, on thinking about it, this might be ideal for indoor field rentals. Apparently the average renter (at least locally) shoots about 500 balls during a session, so the chareg amount would be fine. No tanks or compressors, and the velocity is probably rock-steady.

                        warp it

since it runs on batteries does that mean that i could hook up my warp and my halo to its battery source ??? anyway i think its defintly interesting

I've been waiting for something like this..

Now all that has to happen is for it to evolve into something cool.

uhh, how are field supossed to have power to run all these things in the event that this technology becomes the new wave of the future for paintball? Wich will cost us more, all day air, or all day power jack?

It has potential, thats for sure. But I cant see this selling very well until they decrease the size, and increase the battery efficency and improve the asthetics.
