Any tips on getting my 4500 flatline "open"

I nedd to replace the reg seat in my 4500 flatline but I can't for the life of me get the reg to come in half.

Does anyone have any tips that'll let me get it open without scratching the hell out of it?

2 strap wrenches does the trick. It doesnt have to be that tight...just screw it on. Dont bend the reg piston or it will need to be replaced. Dont pull the reg seat off of the reg piston or you will ruin it. PUSH the reg piston out of the reg seat, then PUSH the reg piston back through the new reg seat. There is a top and a bottom to the reg seat also.

Hey Tuna what method do you use to push the reg piston through the seat? Do you use a special tool?

I use a 1/8' t handle allenwrench. You can take the velocity adjuster out, put the reg half on the table and push. Be careful or you will bend/nick up the reg piston. They bend easy.

Thanks for the help. I'll try again tonight but the reg body is on there REALLY tight. I even took the whole thing off the bottle to get a better grip.

OK, I got the reg open (used an allen key in one of the little holes).

Now, how do I get the reg seat back onto the piston? It doesn't go one easily and now you've got me scared of bending it if I use too much force.

Put the reg piston in the reg back and install the velocity adjuster and spring pack. Snug it down, Lay the reg seat on the table with the indented side facing the table. Push the reg assy/reg piston pin into the reg seat. Push it straight down and dont wiggle it on. Once you pop it in, it will still need to go a little more to seat so be careful at this stage. Let me know how it goes. You can paypal me when you are finished

I was trying that but felt that I was using too much pressure and risking a bend so I came up with a different plan.

I put the two haves of the reg back together with the seat in place but the piston completely in the reg. body. I then slowly screwed in the vel. screw which pushed the piston through the reg. seat.

This seemed to work well and when I filled the tank, pluged it into my E-Mag and turned it on it seems to be fine. No leaking and a nice steady 800psi output for the few shots I fired. Unfortunatly I live in an apartment so I couldn't fire a bunch of shots to make sure it's all set.

Thanks again for all the help!

                  You got it!

That's the easiest method for installing the new 4.5K seats. As long as the seat stays in the pocket as you screw it back into the reg. body on the bottle, it'll be fine.
