I heard there are only 2 ways your mag chops balls and that is either Short stroking, or the ball isnt fully inside the chamber when the bolt fires... I occaisonlly chop balls when the ball fully inside, so does that mean i short stroke? whats that mean?
What is "Short-Stroking?"

Your chopping could be related to double feeding or partially feeding of two balls...I had this trouble with mine. I adjusted the nubbin to avoid it anymore.Jesus Saves....and it don't cost you a dime! Accept Him and you will be saved.

What causes short stroking? i dont want "because you dont pull the trigger all the way." as in... is it the On/off that causes the problems? or is it the bolt catch that causes it.. and why.i dont like signatures. so i turned them off. AO is much better this way.

Short strokin is when you get to antsy in a game and pull the trigger back only half way before you pull the triggerfor the next shot. The only way to avoid this is to practice pullin your trigger or get an electronic frame. I suggest the hyperframe, costs more, but best electro frame for a mag. The only way you will break paint then is if your hopper cant keep up with the feedin chores, then i recommend a warp feed. Save your $$$ buy an intelliframe/IZ-grip and then do conversion for intellifeed, this will help loader agitate balls to continuosly feed marker, what would ya rather spend, 450-500.00 for hyper/warp or 125.00/5.00 for intelliframe plus parts for intellifeed hookup?

maybe this will help
I think your looking for a more technical answer. Like what's going on in the gun that causes a ball to go part the way in then get chopped, let me take a stab at this.
As stated before short stroking is not pulling the trigger all the way back and letting it go all the way forward. When this happens a ball is chopped. First lets assume there are two balls in your marker. When you don't fully operate the trigger the sear closes the on/off and barely lets go of the bolt and shoots the 1st ball. But because you didn't fully operate the trigger the on/off valve opens before the bolt can be fully returned by the bolt spring (or caught by the sear) and lets the 2nd ball drop part way into the breech. Now since the on/off is open there is air pressure in the power tube that pushes the bolt out again and chops the 2nd ball. So in short (pun intended) short-stroking is the opening of the on/off valve before the bolt spring can return the bolt to the sear, causing a chop (assuming the air let in early is of a high enough pressure to over come the bolt spring tension). Hope this helps.
I think that's right. Let me know if its wrong.

I thought it was something teenagers do with the Victoria's Secret catalog in the can... but I guess it could also refer to hammerin' yer trigger too quick to let the balls feed into the chamber properly.
