    Trade: gone bad

Well, its finally happening. I have done a deal and it has gone sour. I had my mag up for sale and traded it with a tank for a nice ion. Not releasing the other partys name until he decides to come public, as i am choosing to do.

The plan was ship same time for a clean, quick, smooth transaction. I messaged him earlier today about the marker, if he had gotten the mag yet. He said he recieved the package and it was not working. I shot it before i put it in the box, my parents were there as well (they wanted to shoot it too). I shot it to use up all of the air that was left in the tank. It was then off to him. Him now reciving it, saying it doesent work, wants his gun back, which i havent recieved yet. I dont even know if he shipped the gun yet.

He claims that he knows someone in the post office to get his package back. I do not have the exact law or anything, but i would think that that is illegal. Once the gun he is sending leaves his hands, it is now mine and he can not tell me what to do with it.

I have not had any bad trades so far, i am not in a business to screw someone over. I want the ion that i was promised without this getting into a sticky situation. I did not even want to ever post a thread like this and am sad that i have to.

Please offer some input, what to do, what can be done, etc. Please do not try to guess the other partys name until he reveals himself.

    edit: 5/21/06

Recieved my gun back yesterday, xPJx did not rip me off or try to scam me. He was just being unnessicarily strict about his trades. This is good, but then again its stupid

The gun he has doesnt work.... if that is the case, wether he is lying or not, demand you gun back, and tell him you will fix the problem. If he doesnt do this i would try to contact local authorities or possible file fraudulant charges against him. But i would give it some time before it actually comes to that.

      We shipped same time.
      I received the marker.

The deal was for a functional marker. When I received it the front grip was loose. I aired up the marker, pulled the trigger. Got nothing.

In the PM you sent to me(screenshot below)you stated you should have tested it before you sent it. Now you are saying you did. Caught in a lie already.

      Trancript from PM above:

I figured you would have gotten the Ion by now. I got the mad. Kind of Pissed cause it does not work at all. THink I should send it back and you should return my ion when you get it.

what do you mean it doesent work?! it had just come from the proshop and if it didnt work ill definatley get you the parts to fix it because it cost me $20 to have it professionally tuned.

it is my fault that i didnt test it when it came back to me but i have never had anything bad come from them.

ill let you know when i get the ion... i cant trade back because i kinda already sold it and bought another gun...

      :/

It is not illegal to stop shipment of any package sent. There is actually a form at the post office to fill out for this exact reason. Now, according to the above PM you made a deal for the Ion before you even had it in your hands. This is why you want it now.

Sorry, I am not going to accept a non working item for a marker that does not work.

I guess RR is right. If he sent it he would not be able to recall it. I guess ill be one of thoes paranoid traders from now on.

afterthought: everyone knows how easy mags are to fix, right?

You can stop packages, just cannot think of the form name this minute.

I should not have to fix it. It should have arrived in working order. You have already been caught in one lie about testing the marker before you sent it out.

            xPJx,

Did you try adjusting the velocity? Anything can happen in shipping. Check to make sure the sear is seated correctly, that the lines are connected properly, and adjust the velocity.

Adjusted the velocity, both up and down all the way while trying to shoot the marker. I already told him I am shipping his marker back. I am sorry for his inconvenience, but when I make a trade I expect to get exactely what is described. Unfortunately this time it did not happen.

PJ big deal, if it doesn't work, either fix it/have it fixed or atleast get a quote and ask alex if he will pay for it. If not, just send it back and get your Ion back..

That is what I am going to do. Send it back and get back my Ion.

Here is the postal form to stop delivery btw. Not illegal in any manner.

                  http://www.usps.com/forms/_pdf/ps1509.pdf

I will also scan the delivery confirmation receipt tomorrow when I ship his marker back. Then when it is delivered I will post that from the usps.com web site.

Not the case at all. Got it, didn't work, agreement breached at this point, sending back.

You have also lied to me as proven in my first response. Thanks.

Wow, sticky situation. But this should not be a public thread. This is what pm's are for. With all the recent "trade gone bad" threads out these days, we don't need another one just for kicks. There is nothing that people can give advise for, since we don't know the people, and this seems to me like a personal conflict brought into the open in order to gain moral support.
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

                          lied? how?

I dont know what you did to it.

Not everything is perfect. If it was a perfect world this wouldnt happen.

Matter of fact, every paintballer ive ever known has played with a working gun, degassed it, next time, air it up, pfft. doesent work. IDK! Also, if the problem really is a matter of telling the truth or lying, thats bull and we both know it.

You agreed to trade, we traded. I dont even know if the ion works, havent gotten it yet. I probably would have to put about a half hour into it and a couple of bucks. Always happens, every time. Maybe i have bad luck.
