Automag Classic - Safety *kinda* works

Some time ago the safety on my marker started performing badly. Essentially the safety does work though when the trigger is depressed with it on, the marker sort of sputters. When I was testing it out there were no balls in the chamber so I'm not sure if it'd actually fire but it's a little disconcerting anyway.

Again when the safety is on, the marker will make a sputtering noise if the trigger is depressed. Almost like a misfire that *could* propel a ball.

What should I look at to fix this? The safety button itself is lose and I always thought that was a little weird.

p.s. A barrel sleeve is on at all times when not in game but I'd like to have a fully functional safety for obvious reasons.

There are three things to look at.

    1) Make sure the trigger rod is not touching the back of the trigger when you have air on the marker. There should be a gap there between the thickness of a business card up to about 1/16". The size is not a critical as the gap just being there. The gap is adjustable by screwing in the rod on the clevis (attached to the sear), but getting a clean grip on the rod and clevis is a little difficult.

    2) The safety is worn where it stops the trigger.

    3) The trigger where it hits the safety is worn.

2 and 3 are unusual, since you have to mash the trigger a lot with the safety on. Your problem could be the combination of the three.

Make the trigger rod just a bit shorter and it should correct your problems. It won't take much.
Except for the Automag in front, its usually the man behind the equipment that counts.

Yeop that was it. This fix only took me 5 minutes, maybe less! I found needle noes pliers worked the best on the clevis/rod.

        Thanks guys.
