Need help from the AGD gals & guys who taken gals pbing.

I think I have my gal talked into going pballing. Any thing I should do/know for someone who has never done this before? I mean I don't want her to kill me or even worst hate me after this experence. Like any recommended protection or things I should do? Or for the guys who have talked their gals into playing any recommendations? She is very intelligent, liberal and pretty tough. (women please dont take this offencively just wanted to know anything gererally important).

Most girls who I have gone with at first are worried about chest shots, just grab her a chest protector if your local field has one ... then just dont leave her "by herself" for the first game or two, let her get the feel of it and then she'll either love it or hate it ...

Well remember that if you bunker her you won't hear the end of it and with the money you'd have to spend on "I'm sorry" gifts you could buy yourself an XMag and Flatline 4500. JK. One or two paintball freaks out there might see getting bunkered as a sign of love but most don't and I know she won't.
Best thing is to show her some tricks and tips but remember she's probably there because you do it and like it, and she's definitely looking to just have fun so don't bog her down in strategy and the stuff we all focus on. Show her some basic things like keeping a low profile (no elbows sticking out) and encourage her to move up instead of cowering in the back bunker like newbies do because she'll have more fun that way and stay in games longer, but then let her just do her own thing and don't worry if it's not pro-level skills.
Playing a back position and covering her and letting her move up would let her really experience the game.

Just have fun, it's what we all should be there for.

YES, she will need chest protection. My wife used my cami jacket with "stuff" in the front top pockets. An old leather vest will work as a chest protector also. Layers are helpful also.

Proper attire and equipment helps also. Gloves are a must. A light marker is also good. Spyders come to mind. Easy to operate and light.

Also, do NOT leave her EVER during the game! She is going to "cramp your style", but you need to deal with it. It was one of my wife's complaints. Make sure she realizes that it does hurt a little when you get hit. And the hardest thing of all, make sure she gets an elimination in her first game. If you can get her an elimination before she is eliminated herself you will have her hooked (at least for that day)! It worked for my wife, at least for that day. She got the elimination herself, I was already a spectator.

first off make sure she is having a good time without ruining other peoples fun. for instance if she doesn't feel like playing another 10 gazillion games like the rest of the group does, don't force her too. while she is sitting out make sure she isn't alone(unless she wants to be)maybe you or someone she is friendly with can stay with her and hang. depending where you are weather wise(ny or tx) you can ease the pain a little by wearing heavy sweatshirts, or multiple layers. emphasize safety, alot of people get turned off to ballin' because they think its unsafe and renegade. in the end give her something to look forward to at the end of the day, do something she wants to do ie. movie, dinner, etc. let her know that you appreciate her taking the chance in trying something you like to do and in turn the favor will be returned.

Me and my buddies brought two Girls with us once, because they finnaly gave In and wanted to see why we never stop talking about it.

They had their dads old stuff, on gun was a mirrage and one was a pro carb, Man did they chop, any way.

Just constntly tell them about the rules, stay with them, give them the best saftey equip. around becaus they will freak if the get hit in the ear or somehting... have fun

Uh, no. I don't know if I should take that as a compliment or not. I've played paintball since I think 1986. I'll be 43 on Monday. So, I'm anything but a young kid. Do I write like one? Funny, I thought I had a hard time identifing with the "younger crowd" here on AO.

I found out the way to get people into it is act like your having fun even when your not. Or give them positive feedback for ANYTHING they do.

When i go paintballing with a newbie i always tell them "good job with the cover fire" "man you ALMOST had that guy !", etc. Just keep the fun level UP and you'll hook anyone.

I took my friend Heleit and her g/f (yes her g/f..lol) with me a few months ago

Right away, they were freaked but intrigued at the sport ... first few games they barely moved, but eventually they got REALLY into it and personaly, I'm scared of Heleit .. she's 5'0 and quick, so she'll run right up the middle now ..lol

Best advice, is just make sure you can help her whenever you get a chance ... she knows your going to do your own thing here and there, but just make sure she knows your still playing WITH her and not by yourself.

My wife plays and has succeeded in stealing several of my guns from me including my first RT, Free Flow, and an EMAG (http://www.automags.org/forums/showt...threadid=41345) when she discovered it was better than the rest. Anyway. Women generally will listen better than men when you give them advice. So give her the basic info (stay tight, back off the bunker until you come under fire, lead with your marker etc.) Get her one of the inexpensive chest protector currently available, a good mask, and a throat protector. If you can afford it buy her her own mask (the nVader/X-Ray gives excellent protection and doesn't cost alot) this makes a difference. Make sure she is using a descent marker even if it is yours so that she has a good working piece of equipment. Protect her. Play like you are a back player and ensure that no one runs up on her.
In alot of repects women are better at Paintball than men. They take instruction better and generally are smarter when it comes to making decisions under fire. I've actually walked on to many a rec ball field with people who didn't want to let me play because of my marker. It all changes when I tell them that I will take all of the girls and a couple of the smaller kids. (Ask rdb123 about this if you don't believe me.) I'll take them all aside and tell them a few basics and very often find that I end up on the winning side because for women and little kids the concepts of stay tight , listen when I tell you where some one is shooting at you from, and wait until the other guy makes a mistake are simple for them to understand. We guys don't like to have anyone tell us anything.

Once she has decided that she likes the game you may find that she is better than you are and gets more eliminations. :-)

My wife (~warpedrt~ 's sister)either gets hit on the break or disappears on the field. If she's disappeared the next thing I'll hear is pop...hit! pop...hit! pop...hit! as the game ends with her standing up on the far end of the field after eliminating the other team. It used to be an ego killer but now it is a source of pride. I just do my best to make sure that I throw volumes of paint down the lane I think she is going to use to make sure that she doesn't get lit up.

Hopefully she will enjoy her first experience (alot of it is up to you) and you will have something that you can do together that you both love. Then you will be the envy of the guys at your field that wish their girlfriend/wife played.
