can you use an RT on/off in a classic valve?

Seems to fit the hole, would it work? Or would this cause a problem?

not sure about the exact size if you can swap them or not it may hepl recharge a bit if any i know they made a turbo valve for the calssic that helped recharge a bit butits prob not worth doing i do remember that it still woulnt fire as fast as an rt beacuse of the valve differences

        thanks for the link...

So what were the few simple modifications you made to the RT on/off to make it work. And lower down in your thread you stated it might have problems with a standard (benchmark double) trigger frame?

the modifications were done because I was putting it in my homemade e-mag. they improve the recharge rate. on my gun, the sear returns with no pressure on it, so the pin can too. that's why it works so well.

but I did the modifications before I tried putting it in a mechanical classic valve mag.

so after the modifications, I noticed that it worked but, because of the fact it's a classic valve, the reactivity is not enough to push the sear all the way back with the wieght of your finger on the trigger. sometimes the sear did not reset properly. this can cause nasty bolt wear problems.

the modifications were this: drill out the top of the on/off to match the classic valve on/off. I believe it was .150" I drilled it out to. on the RT on/off, normally the hole in the top is just big enough for the pin. the other thing was to drill out the four cross holes. take them up higher. I used a mill bit to drill them out .125" up close to the top. to also be similar to the classic on/off. both of these mods let the air come around the pin and into the dump chamber faster, thus increasing recharge rate.

if you are running a mechanical, clasic valve mag, I would just buy an RT on/off and try it as is.. by not modifying it, it might hold the air above the pin longer, helping the pin to return the sear all the way properly. you can even shim it up using level 10 shims to gain recharge rate if need be. if you need to take stronger measures to improve recharge rate, that can be done after you try shims.

the thing would be to get the sear to return properly, but not lose any bps, or have any recharge problems. you may not have any problems to begin with.

my friend runs an RT on/off in his classic valve... it ripps dude, we did no modifications at all just dropped her in and let her rip man, works like anything else im pritty sure the bounce is not good for the classic valve though the thing ripps off 15bps (or whatever the classic is capibable of without shootdown...) easily no joke

I never was interested in the reactivity myself, just the lighter trigger pull force.

I say get one and try it. don't modify anything at first just try it and see how you like it.
then if you have any type of shootdown, you can modify it.
check the bolt and sear for wear after you shoot it for a while.

as far as mechanical guns go, you could use a ULT on/off and get a really soft pull. if that's what you're looking for.
