How close are we to a Civil War?

I think the better question to ask is, are we heading towards a civil war?

I don't know about any of you, but i think the Republic/Democrat relationship is going down the drain... Democrats hate Republicans and Republicans hate Democrats.... I't feels like it is really getting ugly.

I know a few people on here I wouldn't mind popping in their mouth for their "I'm holier than thou" attitude when it comes to politics...

Wouldn't you guys agree that the differences between the two sides lately is starting to turn into hatred?

    Just a thought..... Replies welcome

I don't think so. The Civil War was fought, mainly (I say that because I don't want to get into an argument about the war's particulars) over slavery and whether it was right or wrong. The other "main" reason was because the southern states wanted to break away and become the Conderate States of America, and not be apart of the Union. I don't see any big reasons why the country would break into a state of civil war like that of the size of the Civil War.

I think the real question here is, How close are we to world war?
Ruling out the icecaps melting, a meteor becoming crashed into us, the ozone layer leaving, and the Sun exploding, we're definitely going to blow ourselves up. H'okay. So basically we've got China, France, India, Israel, Pakistan, Russia, The UK, and us, with nukes. We've got about 2600 more than anybody else. Whatever. H'anyway.

I know it sounds implausible, but I just think it would take one serious main point of difference (Such as there were many back in the original Civil War) for this to be something that could enter your mind as a possiblilty.
It's obvious that the country is almost completely split down the middle as far as percent democrat/ percent republican goes. That's evidenbt from the last election.

All I am saying is that there is alot of hate brewing now between the two sides, which i have never experienced before in my young 25 year old life.

Civil war in a case like this would be near impossible. What is going to happen at some point is there will be no longer republican and democrat parties. This has happened many times over the 227 years the US has been around. Look at the post Civil War political corruption and tell me that our current problems are worse.

We're no where close to a civil war. You know why. Democrats aren't anywhere near organized..... I say that as slightly left winger too... :o

No democrat can really tell you we are organized or else we would of had better candidates (and ones that don't blow up, turn red and screetch YEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!).

The thing is... I don't see much of a difference between the Democrats and Republicans. There isn't really a line anymore, its all about tradition and nothing about what is for the best of this country.

First, the CIvil War was fought over States Rights versus Federal Supremecy. Slavery was just one of the issues that brought it to a boil. There were also economic reasons, such as northern back tariffs hurting southern trade.

As for another Civil War, not going to happen. Republicans and Democrats may not agree what is best for our country, but both are trying to better our country.

Also, for a civil war to happen, we would need a region of the country to rebel. Not going to happen. Our country is evenly divided over idealogy, that's all.

"What's so civil about war, anyway?"

Thank you, Axl Rose. I haven't listened to that song in at least 10 years and I can still remember that line.

As for a civil war, the first was fought primarily over states' rights. There won't be a second.

I hate every liberal. Does that answer your question?

And as far as a civil war? Not in a million years. Liberals appease, they have no use for conflict (unless its unconstituational judicial activism, which they have become professionals at).

Too many people are beginning to place their party above their country. Absolutely moronic.

i'm somewhat perplexed here. you're missing a key problem with having a civil war today. if the republicans and democrats suddenly decided to fight it out it wouldn't be a civil war. it would be a nationwide riot. in order to have a civil war you'd need each side to have a geographic location assosciated with it.

During the civil war a farmer could walk into a gun shop and buy the most advanced weapons of the day.
You try buying yourself an aircrafts carrier :)
Well actually i'm sure you could if you had the money, but good luck buying the weapons and planes :)
