carbon fiber barrel set, Sw!tch, good, bad?

The peaople who make the St!ff! barrel (all carbon fiber) have released a carbon fiber barrel system with different sized backs for control bores. http://www.sitemfg.com/products.html.

Now the control breech length is only 1 inch long (which comes in different sizes; 4 - Sizing Breeches (.685, .687, .689, .691)
), and then acording to the site the barrel "front" is .691'

this seems like a very short control section. anyone ever used this set? any idea if it's any good or not? the weight sounds like heaven, but I don't want to drop that kind of cash for a product that wont cut it.

I finally picked up a mag, I've got a new empire halo reloader b, waiting for the Hair trigger (can't wait), and I have been looking for a kick *** sizeable barrel system to with my setup.

    Anyone used this/heard anything good/bad?

stiffi makes a carbon fiber front for the Freak kit. That's what I'd do; buy a Freak barrel kit, and for I think $60 you can get either a 4, 6, 8, or 10 inch front (just the front; add the 6" back for total length). I'd do that if it weren't for my all-black color scheme.

they have and they do. its called the stiffi switch, sound familiar?

honestly does p-b match make that big a difference? hell as long as the ball is round who cares? I think I may spring for one if I had a closed bolt gun.

em...yes it does make that big of a difference. With my stock barrel on my Spyder, my accuracy was crap. Slapped on a 14" Freak kit, no other upgrades, and I could hit a pole from 40ft away. P-B match is arguably the most important thing in a paintball marker.

I've heard good things about it, but the Chipley version is cheaper... and has different metal part styling.

it comes stock with the new J2.

i think the only reason why the chipley is cheaper is because they dont seem to have any different lengths of the barrel sets, which means they are all probably 16 in. like what comes with the J2. im not totally sure, but i bet a phone call could clear it up.

Let me tell you that stiffis are way overpriced. I have lpayed with many and i have done a comparison and they aren't worth the extra. Almost every barrel is overpriced nowadays. I personally would get a cp 2 piece with a .689 back and a .693 and you will be set.

Well, I have 4 stiffis and love them all, as far as being overpriced isn't everything in paintball overpriced. I really believe that besides some subtle advantages any high priced barrel is just that, overpriced, but p-b match is priceless; I been playing for about 8 years and before any barrel system came out we would buy paint for the type of barrel we were using, so the systems are definately more for convinence.

yesterday i was playing with a .691 insert in my freak and i was using marbs. It was shooting okay but it was curving towards the end of its flight. I switched to a .689 (which i had sized it out to be earlier, but was too lazy to switch inserts) and the accuracy dramatically increased. I do not understand how someone can say paint to barrel match doesnt matter. I've shot a lot of different types of paint using different bore sizes for each and i've always noticed a difference

In essence it does make a difference, but never anything huge. As far as going from .691 to .689 and having a huge difference..thats very odd, maybe unless your using a cocker or something, or one of your inserts is damaged. I think closed bolt guns, like said, are the only thing I would consider using a kit for, because with my experience using my friends e-cockers they really do need a very nice match. I know when I used like .684 Severe on a .691 barrel using my friends Impulse and Freak I saw some problems, but there was a large bore difference.

As for the barrel itself, used one personally for the first time yesterday. I usually use like a 10 or 12 inch barrel, for some reason, but I needed a 14 to stay into my bunker because we were playing the NPPL field from Miami (yes, DHP has the field, its very nice, ). I used...685 and shot our practice paint which is from National and god knows the size on it, its probably all over the place. Barrel shot perfectly, no breaks, and it really does weigh nothing. I couldnt really notice the weight difference, but it was nifty. If you have the cash I would say get the kit, otherwise get like a large bore barrel, specially if yer got a timmy like myself.
                            2 da k da 2 Timmah.

Oh..it shoots da 620:1 .No problemo.

no i'm using a mag and my insert is fine. Its probalby because i switched from a 10" freak with a .691 to a 12" .689 CP one piece barrel. Usually the CP seems less accurate because i usually use .691 paint. I know there should not be much difference between .689 and .691 bore sizes but my CP .689 doesnt work as well with say evil and doesnt seem to shoot as far as when i use evil in my freak w/the .691. I notice the difference when i play but hey it might just be me seeing things
