z-grips, why? don't read this if you don't want to hear it

Why do so many people like z-grips? It's like Angels and cockers, word gets around and everybody wants one, they are the best, no trigger frame matches up. I have used a z-grip, and I don't like it, and I don't see why people do. Everyone that has one around me ended up selling it, because they couldn't use it. It's a love fest for them. One friend that played many tournies with one ended up not using his, and telling why he decided to stop using it. It hindered playing in some common positions.

Now they will probably be put back into production, probably for a limited run some time on the future. And I would bet that they won't sell them all. The first time they were made I remember hearing that only 100 or so were sold. So why now will more be sold?

It was a good idea, but wasn't practical.

Ditch the z-grip, let people complain and beg, TK is right, where were you 4 years ago? They won't change besides the microswitch mount. The trigger pull will be the same, the angles will be the same. I see disaster coming, and it's going to hurt the rest of us mag users in the process.

I have yet to find a posision in which the z-grip is uncomfortable. It seems to be one of those things that you either love, or hate. Many people find that it does get in the way, then again many others find that it doesn't.

It is a personal preference. The same way that some people like 45 frames while others like the M16 style frames. I find that with the Zgrip, I am able to tuck in very tight with no strain on my wrist. This is much more comfortable to me than having my hand cocked at an odd angle to hold the 45 frame when I am trying to tuck in tight. You either love the Z, or you hate it. Try it out, give it a week...if you dont like it by then, get rid of it.

the others are right.. it is a love/hate deal with the Z...

myself i luv the way theyh look... and when i first got it it took alittle getting used to... so i got out my marker and my scuba and kept firing and filling in different positions.... now the only thing i have a problem with when using the Z is when shooting with my off hand... but even that is coming along....

the one good thing i like about the Z is i now find i dont fire off as much paint... ie no fannin the trigger.... so the Z has made it eaiser on my wallet... but dont get me wrong i still pull out the longs strings at times just now they are more controlled

I hope everyone sees this thread. If you have not played with a z-grip for more than 3 days you have no idea what they feel like. They are semi uncomfortable to run fast with. You will always run faster with a .45 frame. I hope Tom realizes what he's doing with the idea of a new z-grip come back. I just hope people who haven't used them before don't preorder one. They are a litle beyond personal preference item............they are just harder to use than other frames but some eventually adapt to it and become more comfortable with it as to where they will never go back to a .45 frame and some dislike it. I am inbetween. I have one on one mag and I love it but at the same time it is annoying to run with and I have tried every configuration. I find it works best with a foregrip and modified extender. I will always leave the other mag with a .45 frame..............a chrome AGD intelliframe to be exact. I may replace my current z-grip with a new z-grip if they ever come out. Just for the hell of it. My z-grip has an intellifeed on it. All tom really needs to do is drill a hole in it so you can connect the wire to the switch. I would also like to see STICKIES on them.

I've been looking for people with Z-grips but no1 has them so I can't shoot them. I still want to pre-order it to get a good look at it and try it. If I don't like it I'll sell it off on e-bay. I guess that's how some things are...

I should add - I'm not saying that people that have bought the grip, and liked it a lot are wrong. I'm basically saying that AGD could spend time and money on more useful things.

I Love my Z-Grip, and would find it hard to go back to a normal style frame, everything just fits with me, which may be due to some practicing in the mirror and just carrying around my mag for the sake of carrying it around, now I can run with it without even thinking twice, its completely comfortable and natural. but thats just me. *shrugs*

i love my z-grip. it is a great idea. everyone is different and it is all a matter of preference. just like some people prefer cockers. you may not like it but if the person who owns it is happy with it then why can't you be happy that they are happy. i have no problems shooting from any position with my z-grip. probably because i found the best way for me to mount the tank out of my way. under the barrel.

                              zgrips rule!!!!!!

I've never understood why the z-grip didn't catch on. In almost every pic in any magazine(just for reference), players are shooting with craned wrists in almost ever firing position, excluding lyng on your stomach. The zgrip just puts everything into a more natural position for firing your paintball marker. A .45 makes sense for real firearms, but in paintball we shoot from a much different type of position. WHY then, should our equipment mimic real firearms instead of being more functionally specific to our sport?????

I think the z-grip was made after the incredible observation that most of the time, no one using conventional trigger frames fires their marker in a natural position. Our wrist's are always bent at funny angles to pull the trigger while playing tight. Do you think that regular firearms would be made like they are if they were used from a tight position mimicing that of paintball? When was the last time you saw anyone fire a 9mm an inch from their chest?

I truely believe that if more people had been exposed to the zgrip 4 years ago, today we would see the greater majority playing with them. I don't think that there was enough exposue to overcome the initial resistance that people usually have to anything new and revolutionary.

I personally believe that the zgrip is how a paintgun should be held. It is THE reason that I have not bought an electro, and unfortuneatly may never get to.

I remember how when viewloader came out with the 90 round loader. People said we'd never need that much paint in a game.

Semi auto??? I'm fast enough with my Bushmaster pump.

A spinning paddle in my viewloader??? How much???? I don't need that.

What do I need nitrogen for????? CO2 is good enough for me.

An electronic trigger!?! How fast?!? Who needs to shoot that fast?????

I think all of these ideas are now mainstream and taken for granted. In a time where people pay silly amounts of money for the littlest of performance gains, why is it that when a product that would put your arm, wrist, hand into a more relaxed, comfortable, and more anatomicaly correct position is so unthinkable.

Unfortuneately I DON'T think that the zgrip will make it out of obscurity. Too bad.

                              Oh well, I got mine!!!!!
