I found the Automag of real guns here...

Little as this is... and bore sizes aside... I have truely found the equal in the handgun world of our beloved Automag. A special detail to fine workmanship and close tolerances and excellent materials over fancy stuff. A bit weighty but primarily because of the choices of materal for durability. These comments remind you of something?

A fine precission Swiss watch. The Rolex of Semi Auto function. A gun made by a small company that hand builds them and the owner touches every one. An owner that has slowly built his name and reputation from his previous work with his Father in the gunsmith business who cut his teeth doing famous double action conversions on 1911's that everyone wanted back in the day. Who slowly designed and developed this small fine weapon and perfected it and today makes about the nicest smallest carry pistol I have ever held in my hand.

    The Seecamp

L.W. Seecamp company from Conneticut. Larry Seecamp the owner now has just 4 employees. And oversees every step of the process. These are not cheap. They are fine instruments. And I can truely say a joy to own. And the owners tend to immediately become unique in themselves once they have one. They are limited in numbers.

Here is the one I recently came into ownership of (crappy phone cam picts below). Hard to find them sometimes. Especially in the .380 as those are very limited and expensive. The .32's are a bit easier to find but command a good resale value. And because of their design and construction will last more than a life time.

It suprises me how close to the same AGD built Paintball Markers come to the concept to LW Seecamp. Scary really. When you think about it, not so odd to find those few people that want to stick to quality above quantity. I see a lot of Tom in this Larry guy. They rare birds.

These are really fine pocket guns of special note. if you ever get a chance to own one, buy it. Immediately.

Seecamp Firearms finely handcrafts firearms since 1973. Seecamp are the ultimate concealed carry. American made in Southwick, Massachusetts.

    A must see chart:

Nice! I'd love to shoot one to see how it compares to the "lesser quality" models. How's the trigger pull on them?

A bit long but about the same as any other DA only. Thats its only safety of course. So its needs to be. But it is super smooth.

You can check out the Seecamp forum and find someone near you Mango. They are like AO members and love to meet and let people try them. Its uncanny! It truely is the Automag AND AO of guns.

When the Seecamps' first came out, I was soooo tempted to get one. All you have to do is pick up one to feel the quality. But. I always had a thing for the larger rounds. At the time that I was looking at them, the ammo selection was pretty pathetic, but today, there are some really lethal rounds for the 380. I may just get one yet...........

Nice comparison with the Mag, never really made the connection that way, but you are spot on.
WOW, sigs. Havent seen these in a while here on AO.

I thought this was going to be about the .44 Automag :-( I had a chance to get one once in trade for a VM-68 :-) , but the amount of red tape and BS I would have had to deal with made it prohibative.

Oh no. Certainly not. I normaly carry a G27 .40 cal or a 5 shot 38 spcl loaded with +p's on the waist. Depending on how I feel and where I am going to be.

However you know the old saying? A .32 in your pocket is better than a .45 at home in the drawer?

I tell ya what, you stand 15 feet in front of me and let me shoot you with it and see how you like it.... I seriously doubt the bad guy wants to be shot with it either.

The .32 is found for between $350 and $450. The .380 is sometimes found for as low as $750 but more often $850 and up.

Yes there is a resurgence of ammo for these things due to the influence of the new Concealed Carry permit laws. There are now many choices for these. Particularly good are the Speer Gold Dots, Federal Hydroshok and Hornady Custom JHP.

The realization that sometimes your dress cannot conceal easily a larger bore gun has increased the interest of "pocket guns" like this. And the fact that most self defense situations are close up within 15 feet. These particular Seecamp guns are designed around JHP ammo. So, in the case of the .32 the designer has incorporated a Magazine that has tight tolerances to prevent rim lock. Making ammo choice ONLY JHP because it is exactly fitted to that bullet length within a certain length. Typical penetration balistics is about 8.5 inches penetration with a .32 at a 25 yard distance. So its penetration mimics a bigger bore when its close up and then gets close to that magical 12". This gun is designed and intended JUST for distances of 15-20 feet and just for point and shoot self defense situations. And it is extremely "pocketable".

Wouldn't the AMT Automag be the automag of real guns?

Hehe, just kidding, at least quality wise.

The connection is the Owner of the company's commitment and involment in the product and his direct connection to his customers. Thats the Automag mentality. Not the name or the caliber etc. You won't see it until you actualy hold one in your hands and then spend some time on his Forum and communicate with him and his customers directly. Then it sort of just dawns on you that you have seen this all somewhere before...
