Phil carries so much armament, you'd think he was a South African mercenary. -

Here is a good buy on one if anyone is interested. I don't think its a California legal one but good price.

This place sold me mine. They are honest, fast and worth a call. If he says 97% you can bet its mint. They open at 10am EST and they charge $30 for transfer and shipping cost total. They ship overnight. Must ship to a FFL... This one would be in your hands for a tad under $400. That is a good price on these.

2 yr old thread revival woo hoo. So Ole I am looking into getting a pistol later this year. Love the parrallel with these guns but don't want a pocket gun. My brother wants a S&W 9 mm and that sounds ok. I am thinking of something larger though. So here is what I am using the gun for and I am wondering what you all would suggest.
Target practice gun that I can keep around the house to drop stray bear/ intruders (no I don't think I will ever have to shoot either).
I want it to be easy to load (so the wife could get a first round in the chamber without hurting herself). Not a top priority (she should be using the 12 gauge more anyway).
Larger clip would be nice.
Quality gun in .40 caliber seems right.
So one paranoid gun nut to the next; Thoughts?Comment

Glocks, Springfield XDs, CZ guns, and the IWI Jericho/Baby Eagle are what im looking at right now. go to the store and handle them all, see which fits and points best. .40 S&W is a good caliber.MY MAG, Ultra Jim

Go from the 40 to the 10MM if you are looking for a round that stands a chance against bear."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr SuessComment

i don't think there's a handgun out there id want to use on a large bear, save maybe a .500 S&W. 12 gauge with slugs would be my first choice. though all we have around here a small blackbears, and they tend to leave you alone. if not .357 magnum should be enough.
a shotgun would work for the 4 and 2 legged crittersMY MAG, Ultra Jim

Um the bear comment was not meant as serious. More of an allusion to my preferance for more power. I don't want to be shooting a cannon but something that would stop a guy cold if I hit him in the chest. Leaning toward a glock lately but I need to go to Cabelas and handle a few guns soon.Comment
