    New Indoor urban paintball field!!

Hi, I"m new to OA I'm jbg00d's son with combatpaintball.net

We wanted to let everyone know that we have just received word that there may be an indoor urban paintball field coming to vacaville, Ca. in the industrial park. It supposedly will have two decks like one of those video games with open floor sections and all. (that would be freaking cool!) and word has it that it will be 20,000+ square feet! that's big.

It's supposed to be a 24-7, 7 days a week operation so anytime you wanted to play, it would be open. check this out... how about a night game in the middle of the day on any day of the month, it doesn't get any better than that.

A close friend of ours knows the guy who is putting this together, he told our mutual friend that he would give a significant discount to the combat paintball group if we'd come and play; that's a no brainer...

From what I gathered from the conversation, it's still an idea, but if there's enough interest, it will come together. This guy is about business and business only so we know that its not just hearsay..

Let us know what they use on the floor. I've played on some hardwood floors that were more like a slip'n'slide.

I'm pretty sure they will be installing non slip flooring like astro turf or something of that sort..

                    Indoor Woodsball/urban field

So what do you think? I'm curious because its a good friend of mine who is going to pull this off if it makes sense.

I imagine it's going to take a pile of cash to make this happen so I'm sure he doesn't want to see his money wasted if this thing falls apart.

So any input would be absolutely wonderful!

Now that you mention it, I guess there should be a lot of improvements available to indoor paintball. Air bunkers are so much better than the old plywood houses and mazes. Being indoors should help protect them from vandals and the weather, so you could spend more money on them.

If the floor had some easy tiedown locations all over you could rearrange the field easily. I would want a big floor drain so I could wash the place down with a big hose. I haven't been to a national level indoor field, but I bet there aren't many that can afford the scoreboard girls and the squeegee guys.

                        That's great input!

My friend is considering a built up woodsball/urban type setting. It would entail fake fallen trees, logs, plywood tunnels and the like.

What are your thoughts in regards to that type of arrangement?

Wow, I didn't even think about a score board. that's a great Idea!

Ya, not scoreboard girls. there will be young people there. sorry man.

sounds like a good idea, open 24/7 is a little excessive
you should definately fit an airball field in there, but that sounds cool

I've heard there are businesses that can make inflatable bunkers in custom shapes and prints (like fallen tree 'snakes' or car prints). I used to think that was pointless because of the expense, but for an indoor field it might be possible.

The main problem I can think of with a washable field is setting up the hvac to dry it out. If your climate is dry that would make it easy to dry but expensive in water. $$

There's that shredded stuff they have on the floor of the rock climbing gyms (tires?). That looks like it would be fun to play in, but real tough to clean. Maybe it's cheap enough to swap out.

Tunnels are neat, but I wouldn't spend too much on them. People realize very quickly that they don't want to be caught in them with no cover. A wide tunnel with small bunkers down each side like you see in starwars battlefront could be worth a team fight though.

If you can find some way to safely get some elevation (ramps and platforms), it usually means more indoors than out, considering the little that we usually get and the short ranges involved.
