Checked out their website and it looks like a stellar operation! Has anybody played there (sans shatnerball)? Is it really as top notch as it looks? Was thinking of heading down for open play maybe next weekend.

I have played there many times, both open play and scenarios. Good fields and a variety of them. They actually have a mock town, which is pretty cool. You have to use their paint, which is different from Badlandz and Fox. It is Marbalizer and generally good paint. I have not had a bad experience. They also have regular bathroom facilities and a decent pro shop.Originally posted by kurtisqpublicChecked out their website and it looks like a stellar operation! Cool! Do they have decent turn outs for winter open play? Is there generally a more experienced crowd (have a few newer players that will come out)?Originally posted by pendulousI have played there many times, both open play and scenarios. From the website the place looks phenomenal!Comment

I always end up comparing it to The Badlandz. At CPX, the fields are fantastic. Better than any other place I have played. The facilities are great, too. Prices and "timing" are not as great.
Pricing: At Badlandz, you can usually get entry and a case (of economy) for $50. You can also BYOP. At CPX, you are looking at $108 for entry ($18)+case ($90). Granted, they sell Marballizer, but I can get Marballizer at Badlandz for $65.
Timing: I have rarely had to wait more than 15 minutes for a game at Badlandz. Sometimes, you barely have time to get more paint and air before heading out again. At CPX, get ready for a wait. Sometimes 30-40 minutes between games.
Now, don't get me wrong, CPX is not a bad place by any means. I have played 2 scenario games there, and both were great. During one, the scenario-specific paint was behaving terribly, and they just switched it all out with the more expensive Marbs that they normally sell. I do play open there from time to time, but the cost usually turns me off.
Also, and this isn't a plus or minus, but the experience level of the players tends to be lower at CPX. In the past, renters at Badlandz seemed like a rarity. I did see a lot more this past year, though.Comment

I seem to have better luck at Fox in terms of open play turn out. I do like to use my own paint and that means I'm a bit biased towards Badlandz and Fox. There seems to be more regulars at Fox. There are some pumpers who frequent there who are really good. I have seen them demolish guys with semis. Definitely makes for fun, interesting, and challenging play. That said, CPX has great fields and is a good place to play . I really like their scenarios. The Living Legend scenario is one of the bests.Comment

I play at CPX almost exclusively. Winter turnouts can be hit or miss. Not as many regulars during the winter. The fields are really nice, but please note that the two City fields (Armageddon and Bedlam) are closed during the winter. My son and I have memberships, and it's worth the cost if you play there more than a few times a year. I highly recommend the field. I'll probably be there this Saturday.Comment

Ive played there before, and pretty much agree with what everyone else has to say. Even if you are a budget baller its still worth going to once in a while for the fields, Bedlum has to be one of the coolest fields to play on, but my favorite has to be fort corage. It also is nice to have a fully funtional restroom when you need it, I dont know how you feel about it but I hate portapoties.sigpicComment

I've worked there, I've been on a cpx sponsored team, its not all a bad place. I think its mostly a rip off on paint prices. But none the less, its a good place... the refs are ok not the greatest but ok....
I did attend the last shattner ball and it was a great event. AGD was there of course and they were spectacular. good place.. Bad prices...

I'm glad you guys had a good time there. I've been there twice in the last four years and both times were the worse piantball experiences ever for me. Reffing staff absolutely sucked. Most were hot headed teenagers that had mouths like sailors. I'm sorry but my 12 year old doesn't need to hear F this and F that. Ya they had Marbilizer paint but it was the worse Marb paint I ever shot. People had more breaks than good shots. The air fills.... 4500?? don't even count on it. CO2 fills were done by sound (yes the guy was holding the tank to his ear to "hear" when it was full). My first time there I was using CO2 and my tank was either way under filled or over filled. They did not use a scale at all. The lack of sportsmanship there is unreal. Cheating, over shooting, stealing, you name it.
I will however be there this year for the Living Legends game but only because I know Viper Paintball will make sure things are run properly. The field itself is nice.Comment

Gonna have to do the living legends game for sure. Maybe I'll wait until spring to check things out. I want to be able to play all of the fields and if the two most interesting fields are shut down in the winter then springtime it will have to be! Thanks for all the info!Comment

I play there about once or twice a year. It is a great field. Only two problems. 1. super expensive. 2)Never see any mags

I saw three mags there this past Saturday. My Tac One, my son's ULE w/ X valve, and a college kid's classic.Originally posted by 68calsportzI play there about once or twice a year. It is a great field. Only two problems. 1. super expensive. 2)Never see any mags
There's also a regular that plays in the summer that uses a classic with an RT valve. I also saw guy last year with a classic mag and wearing a camo combat kilt (yes, a kilt!).Comment

Well the price is OK if the experience is good. I remember the high paint price daysOriginally posted by 68calsportzI play there about once or twice a year. It is a great field. Only two problems. 1. super expensive. 2)Never see any mags
You will see a classic RT at the field when I play. I switch between that and my mini depending on the crowd.Comment

That is great. I just got back my original classic mag that i bought over 14 years ago. I use that most of the time depending on who im playing against. It is nice to have the mag back and it definately wont ever leave my sight again.Originally posted by jrodI saw three mags there this past Saturday.
