Welcome to the forums. As you can see the Florida peeps have really stepped up and made this thread tops compared to the rest of the country. Keep a look out for gatherings of AO members. I have been lucky enough to hook up with a couple and had a blast. I am looking forward to many more meetings.

last big thing after action report

          we lost!

red team (republic): 8000 some points.
blue team (me and crew-bounty hunters/seperatisits): 5000 some points.

even though we ruled them all day saturday and into the night, the reds managed to pull it off sunday in a few hours, gathering all the points they needed and more to win handily.

i could not carry enough paint and twice ran out of paint and air on the field. the first time i led a charge of about 5 guys that were as dumb as me. it failed miserably.

most things are still a blur, but the one instance that stands out is a jedi charging me with a plastic lightsaber and a pistol-bad move on his part.

hideous deals on stuff at the national booth. i got a new style 2 piece boomy for 10$-thats is not a typo....10$.

my buddy tim bought an air america older stlye 88/4500 w/ a raptor rex reg for 100$. he also got a new level 10 from agd for 65$
sunday, 2k right feed cockers were going for 100$. you could get 2 black dragon electros for 50$.

at the prize giveaway, atta boys and pats on the back lasted so long the crowd got restless. i was almost asleep when i heard my number called. i jumped out of my chair screaming (in a very hoarse voice-too much beer and camp fire smoke) "me me me!!"
i won a rebel le, a ricochet 2k, a paint landmine, a pod with a swab and pro team barrel care products and a set of blue 32* sticky grips.

i got to hang arond and camp with two old friends i had not seen or played with in 10 years. good times and bonus as my buddy jake would say.
another old friend from our old field, bj from strange, hung out with us and we got a tour of thier bus and the lowdown on the team. he's worked very hard and came a long way since back in the day. we're all happy for and proud of him.

met snooker from the gladiators scenario team. he's looking forward to setting up an ao meet on their property near bradenton. seems the gladiaters ae also going to be beta testing the tac ones and are getting an agd sponsorship-congrats!
also met harbinger from pb nation after he complimented me on my bushy. thats high praise as he has started an icd owners site similar to ao.org.

lots of mags there. i got to help out a younger user, i don't remember his username, but he needed some barrel o-rings and nubbins. we were happy to hook him up.

someone (who will remane nameless) tripped over a log and stumbled into the fire pit. no harm done.

cold as hell saturday night-it froze but warmed up quickly. friday wasn't bad, chilly but no freeze.

play stopped at 5pm saturday for free chicekn and all the fixins. the chicken was excellent and so was the slaw. play resumed at 8 pm but due to advancing age, cold weather, and a beer surplus, we declined and roamed the small trade show. draxxus, national, the angel guy and a few misc vendors were there.

70,000$ in prizes were given away all totaled. a timmy was given away sunday to a pre registered player.

a cocker was stolen from national, an impulse was stolen from strange and a flatline was stolen from agd. i think that wasa bit much for so few vendors and it really sucks that people do that crap.

the food vendor, well, wasn't so hot. we opted for our own brats and steak (and jakes twinkies), bologna and cheese and the free chicken.

it was great fun to hang with my buds tim, jake and jim, and i was sad to see them go sunday. though we have decided to make it an annual event for us.
over all, it was a good event. no major issues that i saw and it was cool to be able to run with total strangers and talk like you know them.

i'm sure i'm leaving things out, buts thats all i can type right now. too much happened in 3 days for me to remember or relate.
i know that i want to do it all over again strating right now!

hey lee, i'm the younger user from waynes world that needed sum o-rings and nubbins. i was wondering if your going to go to the 24 hour scenario game in apriil...it's like the one last weekend except for there is not so many people...about half as many which is still a lot since half the 1500 that went last weekendis still 700 so...yeah.

                    Sup folks?

I'm moving to Tampa in a few weeks to go to school, and I plan on playing a lot down there. Any recommended fields in the area? Eventually I would like to either join a team or form my own once I get in the area to run some ammy tournies. But, I'd like to get familiar with the scene first.

                    Cheers

hey punx, what area of tampa and what school?
there are a few decent places to play around here, especially if you don't mind a little travel.

Im movin to central-ish tampa kind by the bay. Going to a private school called International Academy of Design and Tech. So are there aren't many close fields in the area? I was hopefully planning on playing weekly depending on my job/school hours, but if there's a lot of driving involved I might not make it that often.

Well lets see. Everything in the area is a pretty good drive except for Thunder Bay which is probably only 10 - 15 minutes depending on where exactly you will be living. Jungle games in Lutz is about 20 - 25 minutes away, Showdown is about 30 minutes but worth the drive. Orbital is about 20 - 25 minutes. There are a couple of smaller fields in the area but they don't offer a whole lot.

Showdown offers the most. It offers airball and woods with excellent fields, great owners and friendly players. Jungle offers woods and a huge speedball field but the owner is rude and the whole operation is a joke. I started ball at Jungle 10 years ago and played there exclusively until we found Showdown which just opened recently. I've been to Thunderbay once. I hated the staff, hated the players and their attitudes and the fields were not great. I have never been to Orbital but have heard mixed reviews about it. They offer a variety of fields as well.

Keep in mind these are my opinions and as is typical other people will have their own feelings about the different fields.

Nice, thanks for the reviews. I'll try to make it out to one of fields (most likely Showdown) next month and get some rec play in, and maybe get to know the folks!

i agree with the duelist. showdown is the best bet for your area. actually, it's pretty much the best bet period.

lmk what day you are going and i'll try to make it and bring a couple peeps from my neck of the woods.
