Bay Area AO Day 2

I'm just getting back into the sport, going to try WAP this weekend. It looks good, and I've heard only good things about it. As far as food, looks like WAP allows you to BBQ, if I read it right. They also let you BYOP.

I'm definately down for an AO day, as long as you all bear with me. I'm definately not playing at the same level as y'all.

its kewl steeratt, im sure the guys wont leave you behind........well actually if you play at scp they will kinda have to cause they seperate you into groups based upon your skill level.

wap is a bit of a drive for most people so i dont know if people are up for it...i'll be in alaska so my opinion means nothing

Can't barbeque there anymore. SCP does allow you to BYOP, even pink...even if you are not signing up for the "advanced group" you can join in and get some paint slingin' in.


As for Alex being in Alaska, it sucks but we'll try to make the most of it without you. Have fun up there.

i believe bbq is cool at scp for the time being, last friday they said they were waiting for the fairgrounds to nix the bbq, until then its legal.

Looking at the poll out of 22 votes, it looks like Sun. the 20th has the majority of votes.

Out of curiosity, if we were to lock that date in as the official choice, how many people would DEFINITLY play that day?

It being a Sunday, the best I could offer would be a maybe, because I have to arrange to get the day off before comitting.

I'm mainly interested in seeing how many people are 100% sure they can and will play that day.

Could one of you guys point out to me where SCP place is? I would love to hop in this and I can make it on a Sunday, but I need to know if I am looking at a 45min drive or a 2 hour drive. Thanks

what month? if its this month i probably could because i have a couple cases of zap crap in my garage but if its too long a wait i will probably not be able to as i wll probably shot the paint, i cant wait too long, the stuffs brittle enough as it is.

So, with the month of July rapidly approaching, has everyone gotten off of their duffs and made a decision as to whether or not we're doing this on the 19th, 20th, or 26-27th?

I didn't want everyone to think I'm bailing on Norcal AO days. July is completely out for me. My wife had surgery recently (she's fine, thanks) and I'm on vacation in the middle of July.

OK, since this seems to be harder than it should be, how about this.

Next bay area AO day, the prison game in august. The date and location is already set, you can either make it or not. You have plenty of time to arrange your schedules to be there.

What are the thoughts on that?

If you are talking about that field in Monterey where Fort Ord used to be, I am not too big on it. The refs don't run a very tight shift and the paint rules are kinda odd and change sporadically. I really think we should go to the field in Watsonville called T.A.G (<a href="thhp://www.adventuregame.com/">AdventureGame.com</a>. They have 5 nice fields, free hot dogs, fill HPA (all day air for $15 I think), CO2 and have a nice little staging area. OK I am biased but that is because I work there on a volunteer basis. Out of the fields I have tried, I really think it's a great pick.

$25 per person for the whole day, you can bring your own paint (white fill only) and if we get 20+ people, we can have our own private group with refs if we want. If you guys wanna do it at this place I can take care of all the arrangements.

The Suggested date for the FORT ORD game is a 24 hour scenario game being run by Black Cat Promo's.

Okay, its obvious that we are just going to keep spinning our wheels unless we come up with a plan. Heres my idea:

1. Take a poll to see how many people are at all interested in partcipating in an AO day, without a particular date being suggested.

2. Select three dates for the meet, and as long as a certain number (say, 50-60%) agree to one day, go with it. Its unrealistic to expect that everyone will be able to make it to one particular day.

3. Select one primary field and one backup field.

Otherwise we will be at this forever. And I've checked out the websites for TAG and Fort ord. Fort Ord doesnt look to appealing. At first I didn't like TAG either, but I just looked again, and for the life of me I cannot figure out why I didn't like it the first time. Looks pretty good now, though I would say that it is more a wood field than a speedball field, from the pics on their site.

My vote is for WAP. Its a bit of a drive, but hey, how many AO days do we really have? I'm willing to make the sacrifice.

1). I am interested!

2). I can go any day (other than Aug 20-30) so I suggest Jul 19th (sat) Jul 26 (Sat) or Aug 2nd (Sat)

3). Of course, I vote for T.A.G field and secondary is whatever you people decide on should you not decide T.A.G (have any of you even been there?). This picts are so so but the airball field and speed ball are nice. Best of all it has the woods and mixed terrain that so many people like (and if most of you have not tried it, what better way to first experience it!). To be fair though WAP has MUCH more land than does T.A.G. but that's a 6 hour drive for me :-(
