The first of many NorCal AO Day 5 threads

OK, Guys, time to start thinking about the next go-round. Place and date need to be set. I would like to try something other than SCP - what are our options?

We have been building up Extreme in Modesto, but I must say that Tag is a better run field. The advantage to Extreme is that it has good hyperball fields and an OK rec field, airball is iffy - sometimes it is up, sometimes it is not. Price is cheap - $21 for play and air. Refs are good, get plenty of games in usually. Downside is it is kinda far for the bay area guys - basically everyone but LPB and I.

Post 'em if you got 'em!

Well as mentioned earlier in the O 4 thread, I am not much a help in deciding. My only requests for wherever you guys decide on is the following:

    1). Must have HPA fills

2). BYOP is VERY MUCH a + (as I get it free)

3). Shade or some form of covering so that we don't die of heat stroke.

4). There are at least 3-4 fields. I don't care if it's all speedball or woodland ball but I don't really want to play 2 fields all day.

That's really it for me. I will be happy to drive as far as Sacramento if you find something good. My only request might be that if its more that a 3 hour drive for me I might need to stay at a hotel somewhere so you guy can recommend a good one .

I am sure I can get them to put in a blurb about me and my Mags there too! Ill be the infamous NorCal MagMaster!

Okay, I originally voted for Extreme, cause we owe it to the father-son team, but Aegis made it sound rather unapplealing. The other alternatives are Thunder Valley and WAP. WAP gets rave reviews, and TV seemed pretty good when we played there. And I 100% agree on the BYOP, I cant deal with field paint prices.

I'll do some research. The webmeister of TV posts on AO under the name Nachos, he is apparently an EMag user. I'll check with him.

Well, my baby is due the 15th of November, so Id say either the end of October, or sometime in mid-December. But thats being greedy. Its okay to plan one that I can't attend if it works better for everyone else.

Oh yeah, the date and time are almost not important to me. As long as I have 2 weeks notice, I can almost certainly make any date.

I knew I could count on you guys to clutter up the forum.

Mileage to Galt from San Jose is about 100 - to Modesto, about 80. Closer for Zman, as you can come over 152 and cross to Modesto.

WAP is 1/2 hour north of sac, but wouldn't be too bad for the bay area/walnut creek crew as you can toodle up 580. Good reviews, pix look like a fun place. Long way for the Zman. WAP would be fine for LPB and I.

Valley Thunder does not seem to have HPA fills. How many of you guys have SCUBA tanks? We have a 70/2250 and a 80/3000.

I didn't mean to run Extreme down - it is a good field, just kinda casual compared to TAG. I prefer it over SCP, if that means anything.

I would take quality over distance any day. If WAP is better but about 2x the drive, that is ok with me. if I am going to be on the road for more thatn 1.5 hours I want whatever it is to be darn good. I have a dinky little 60/3200 Scuba, but with the way I play I really ought to buy a welding tank... HPA fills I thin is safer.

Come to my house if you wanna do scuba: lots o land and no admission.

This kinda shows the relative location of the non-bay area options. WAP is a grind for Zman and Carbon, not too bad for the rest of us. Who else is in San Jose besides the mighty jagermeister?

Free room and board at my house for those unable to make the trip in one day. You just have to put up with the kids

I'm game for any one of those. I feel obligated to go to Extreme, unless Aegis and LPB want to go elsewhere.

well, due to my monetary concerns, i may be limited to only playing at ao days. so lets make this sucker count. im down for either wap or extreme, ive been itching to try either one. i think the two are about equidistant from me. so in conclusion im down for either one. and if anyone needs a place to crash, i am open.

My Dad made Extreme sound kinda bad, but the reason was they had their knida second rate refs out at rec on account of the last time we played was during the IronMen Training seminar (BIG EVENT). They normally have very good refs, especially one named Justin, he's the nephew of Rich Telford and he gives everyone strategy and tells where the good bunkers are. Highlights of Extreme:

                            Good Refs
5 fields, 4 awesome hypyerball fields and a rec field, and airball (usually up on Saturdays only)
                            HotDogs!
                            Good food very close nearby.
                            Great prices
                            BYOP
i think that they fill up to 4000psi, but i'm positive at least 3500.
