    Living Legends 7 - The Great A0 ARMY-Crusade!

    Gentleman,

As some of you know, we will be forgoing our annual Tunaball event in 2014 in favor of trying to organize a big AO all-mags team for Living Legends 7 (May 2014??)

Although it is just under a year away, we really need to get this started as soon as possible. If we are going to go as an organized group, the logistics need to be figured out, and if we are going to play as an organized team on the field, we are going to need people to orchestrate that as well.

    Some of the things to think about;

There are probably 100 more question I can come up with and I have answers to none, so we are going to need some help.
To get this all going, I propose that we set up an EVENT COMMITTEE. I would like to get a handful of people to help out and take responsibility for a piece of organizing this. It would be ideal if we had some people who played this event already but who are also LOCAL to it and are familiar with the area.

I spoke with TK and he approved a separate sub forum for us in the Meet and Greet section where we can keep this all together.

Please post up if you would like to volunteer to help out on this. The more the merrier.

the BEO are behind this and want to show the world at Living Legends that AO or Mags(from the team that took the MVT) is the norm, and not an aberration.

As a Living Legends veteran and local to the area I'll be happy to help in any way I can

Lodging – where will we be sleeping? Is camping an option?

There is quite a lot of space available for camping, I would recommend setting up early on the Friday before that way we could set up a more organized camp site and keep everyone together, and there are hotels close by if some people want to be a little more comfortable

Jerseys/Tee shirts - We will need someone to handle this

Will we be running under the AO Army or are we going to set up a different team just for LL? I personally vote to play under the AO Army that way people wont end up having to buy multiple jerseys/shirts for essentially the same thing.

Staging at the field – Where do we set up? Can we all be together? Will we have access to our vehicles or do we have to lug our gear and stage somewhere else?

There is a main staging area near the concession and chrono range. In previous Living Legends I have gone solo so I don't have to much knowledge on how things are set up, but yes we can stage as a team. I'm not sure if we can reserve spots or if its a first come first served basis, the Bezerkers might know more on this subject as they were staged right alone the field right next to Bedlum. If not in the main staging area there are many places to set up as a team.

EDIT: Yes you will have access to your vehicles and can stage out of them if you would like(I've done it, I even slept in my car during LL2)

After party – Do we want to have our own party after the game? Where? Who lives locally that can set that up?

If we have a centralized campsite it would make setting up an after party much easier, have people bring their local/favorite brew as well as some food/snacks/non-alcoholic beverages(for any younger guys)

Probably a good idea to try and get some tentative numbers together and see who and how many want to camp to get an idea of how large an area would be needed. If only a handful, not a big deal but if you looking at 30-40 people wanting to sleep in hot sweaty tents you may need to have someone reserve some area. I like the idea of having a staging/rest are but nothing interests me less than camping in 80+ deg weather after a day or two of paintball. Joliet is a decent sized place Nd has a lot of hotels within 10 minutes of the field.

I heard the nearest hotel was like 40 minutes away, but that is just what I heard. For the price of being in a hotel for a weekend, you can rent an RV for a little more

Again, these are all questions we will work on in the coming months.

Do you want on the event committee also ?

You need to fire you intel guy. There are tons of hotels next to both I80 and IIRC i55? There is also a casino there and I think a college so there is lots of lodging. I had a room for $ 60/night booked two months prior this year. I might be willing to be on some sort of committee depending on what needs to be done.

If anyone needs an "assistant" to do leg work let me know, I am a horrible communicator so I rather not commit to something like that.
Good idea on the rv I'd be willing to split cost with someone local to rent an rv to sleep in.

That whole area is covered with hotels. I pass by headed to the in laws a few times a year. I'm not what one would call local. So I'm no help there. But I do want to make it to this. Not enough time for me to get all the gear I felt was needed for this past one. I don't want to miss this next one.

With any luck the wife will play it also. So we should bring 2 mags along.

I am local (Chicago) and have been going since LL III. I can address some of the questions posed:

Staging/camping: This is usually first come, first serve. This year I arrived before noon on Friday and still did not get my "choice" spot. I'm thinking of arriving Thursday next year just to set up a campsite where I want (along the tree line in camp ground 1). The only groups that generally get reserved spots are ones that are helping out with the wounded veterans. If this is something the group wants to pursue, Sean Scott from CPX would be the one to check with. Alternately, you can set up a campsite and then claim a picnic table to actually stage out of in Central Park (closer to the field and air fills). I just stage out of my tent. You cannot drive your vehicle onto any of the designated camping areas, though there is a designated place for RV's. There are no hookups for water/electricity, so plan accordingly.

Lodging: There are plenty of hotels along I-55/I-80 near Joliet if you don't want to camp.

After Party: This year I brought a projector, XBox360, and my brother brought a keg of beer he brewed. If we all hung out as a group, it would be really cool to have all of our campsites together so we can setup areas for a movie, beer pong, and maybe a fire pit and/or grill. I would be willing to contribute to this effort as far as providing certain equipment (electronics, a nice quiet inverter generator, 10X10 canopy for common use, shower tent, etc). I can't commit to a team side yet, as I generally stick with whatever team my brother and his scenario team are on (Hellions), but I'd have no problem sharing my things and providing logistical insight as the planning process moves forward. I bring so many things with me for this excursion, they might as well get the maximum amount of use!
