    to all d-day players

just wanted to say that this weekend was a great time. this was my first scenario game as well as my first time at skirmish, i don't think i could have had more fun.

i was on the allies side and couldn't have been happier with the outcome and the teamwork presented through out most of the day.

oh if anyone noticed me around i have a red beard and brown hair, gauged ear piercings, eyebrow rings and a pierced lip. i was shooting a black hopper right mini mag with a y grip and dye 14" ss barrel. at the beginning of the game i was in the 101st airborne 3rd platoon.

i noticed the tent next to us were shooting some rather nice looking mags, didn't get the opportunity to check them out thoroughly though, they were axis players too.

thanks for a great time and i'll definately be back next year, as well as attending the world record game later this year.

Yeah, this D-Day was amazing. The refs were cracking down on paint smugglers like none other, which was good. There were some interesting tanks... I don't know if you saw or not, but there was one, the "Automagnus" IIRC, that was niiice. And the Dealer tents were frickin awesome... I got a steal on a Nickel ule, x-valved e-mag with 3.2 and only 14 shots on the counter..... ready for this? 200 dollars!!!

by the way... i was american too
    Rock on, Allies, rock on

    damn good weekend

I think it needs to be said that, at the best price possible, 75 dollars for a case of paint, just isn't worth playin with.

If I wanted to buy a case, on my own i would have had to pay over 100 dollars, just not right.

I shot maybe 200 shots the entire game. Why? I was the field commander for much of saturday's fighting for the allies. When you are running around barking orders out, you don't end up with much time to actually shoot

I wish that we only shot 200 paintballs that entire game, it took major convincing to get many of the players off that field A big thank you to the minority that were honorable.

Pissed Godzilla, We would have happily had you come in on our bulk purchase of paint to get the case price down to $75 for you. We combined with a number of players and got 34 cases of paint to start. If you're ever at a game that gives a bulk discount, don't be shy to ask around, you'll find people that will happily have you go in with them.

Cornmuffin87, if you were part of command security and control... great job, in a chaotic game.

I guess we still enjoyed ourselves, despite MANY issues, because it was another chance to play paintball as a team and with our friends.

Thanks for the offer on the paint, it is good to see friendly people there... My post was just more of a complaint about the ridiculous price for the paint.

            Consider this,

Let's guess they had around 1500 people there, I heard that was a good number to go by. 1500 people x 50 dollars (that's assuming everyone paid in advance, which I am sure didn't)

75,000 dollars right off the bat.

I am SURE they got their paint at the discounted rate, which could be anywhere from 25 - 35 dollars a box. I gonna say they got them for 30 (just going by the cheapest, mind you)
at a 20 dollar markup, 1500 cases is 30,000 profite at 50 dollars a case.

at 50 dollars a case, I would have bought 2 instead of just one. I'm sure alot of people would have done the same.

Instead they went with a 45 dollar markup on paint... over twice their overhead on the paint...

Okay so what could their costs have been... setup of fields? ALREADY DONE
Paying refs let's say each one got 400 dor the day, (I am being generuos I am sure)

            say what 30 refs? 12,000

            co2-nitro setups 20, 000? (Just a guesstimate)

Only thing I wouldn't know is the insurance for a weekend scenario game.

            In conclusion,
Skirmish was raping us.... it leaves a bad taste in my mouth and makes me wonder if I ever want to come back again....

I had a great time, but it just was not worth the money spent to have that great time.

            My 2 cents

I do agree with you...their prices are terrible. My group went over how much they made in extreme detail during the car ride home, and we came up with nearly a million dollars in PROFIT. Also, there were 2711 people there....far more than your estimated 1500, so that is even more money than you had figured originally. Indeed, they did rape us with the price.

Oh man, I was looking at that and talking to some people about it a few minutes before it was sold. I was kicking myself for not bringing extra money, that and the fact the emag I just bought off of here for $750 was crapping out on me and I had to use my friends Spyder the whole game

It was crazy... I didn't have enough money, so my friends and I were running back and forth scrounging up every dime we could find and I had one of my friends stay there guarding that piece... The rush I got from doing that and actually buying it was comparable to, if not greater than, the rush I was getting on the field... good times..

By the way, I too thought the paint prices were really extreme... but, since I got a fully decked out, 200 dollar e-mag, it didn't really bother me all that much

Haha, that's awesome, I too love the rush of finding an awesome deal. I'm defineatly bringing a pile of money to World Record Game, I hear there's a lot more vendors set up there.

Anyway, it's nice to see a fellow AO'er get ahold of that kind of a deal, is the emag working good for you?

Yeah, unfortunately the World Record Game happens to be on the two days of registration at school.....
As for the e-mag, I haven't gased it up yet, I didn't have an extra drop, plus I didn't want to dirty it up... The electronics seem to work well though.
I love how we have just completely hijacked this thread...

                            Great weekend

As far as action goes that weekend couldn't get any better. My friends and i were in the 703 airborne and had tons of fun defending and capturing all the different positions. With that said the people at skirimish could have at least let us bring our own paint. I have no problem with the $60 admission but $75 a case, for low quality paint, is rediculous when i can get the same stuff for 24 from a friend of mine. This weekend should be for the players and not about making money. Either way i would do it again dispite the 200 dollar hit it made on my wallet.

yeah, my friend is a dealer and he called them out on paint prices. they weren't pleased that he was saying out loud how much they paid for it, to say the least. at least the other dealers' prices kept going down and making up for it the rest of the weekend.

mr.happy, it's a possibility. i didn't pay much attention to people at the fill station though.
